That's a classy piece :tu:

Thanks, she's looking a little worn now but was as flash as a rat with a gold tooth when new.
The case is not stainless or chrome, it's Silver plated. if I don't wear it for a few months it tarnishes like any silverware.
Cost me $395 way back in the early 90's.

Today's effort is a little further down the price scale but I still really like it because it is an Automatic, not Quartz.
They're only $70 but have a certain coolness and I love the see-thru back, you can see smurf happening!

I just have to resist getting the Black one, the Green one and the Tan one to complete the set.

Woke up wearing the Sekonda, took it off to go to work, and tonight put on the Casio which arrived today  :)

Well I finally got around to getting a battery for my Timex Perpetual Calendar watch, got the date and time set, and went to put the back back on, and crack

On the Timex website it says it's I think $10 to replace the crystal, but they don't do watches older than 5yrs old.  I've had this just over 4yrs, so here's hoping they'll be able to do something.

This one today.  New, well, new to me.  Titanium case, bezel, case back and integral band with a deployment clasp.

any jeweler watchmaker should be able to replace teh crystal, it´s a standard round one, so here in germany it would run you anywhere between 15-30 Euro.

My wife said she was going to take it into a watch shop next week for me to see what they say.

I might try and milk it and see if I can get a new G-Shock out of it though  >:D

Yeah, if you like watches you really should take a little time and find a reliable watchmaker.  I used to buy broken watches and have them fixed to sell on eBay, I've used the same guy for over 10 years now.  He's always done fantastic work for me.

If it's not one thing it's another eh Derek?  You'll replace the crystal and the band will burst into flames!

Ugh, don't get me started on watch bands! My skin eats the rubber ones for breakfast lunch and dinner!

I also have to say, Timex has really started to put out some interesting stuff in the last few years.  Chronos, perpetual calendars, military inspired pieces among others.

So in looking at getting a G-Shock (my first), and am looking at the Gr8900A-1, GR8900A-7, GW7900B-1. Any thoughts on those three, or point recommendations?

I suggest you check them in a brick and mortar shop - Those watches are quite big, imho.

In general, although they have gotten better, negative displays are kinda hard to read in less than optimal light.
They do look better, but if the watch is a utilitarian one and not some fashion accesoire (which would be ok) than the positive display variants are the ones to go for.
White, especially matte white, and light coloured resin (plastic) parts get dirty / take stains from dark clothing.

Otherwise, teh G-shocks are quite bulletproof.

Thanks, I was wondering how the white would hold up.  It would probably get black pretty fast with me wearing it, so I might as well get a black one.

I do like big watches, but I will go to a store to check some out just to make sure they fit me well and I'm happy with the size.

I really need a tough watch that I can wear all the time and not have to worry about being super carful with it on.  It will be utilitarian, but I should probably look at a few different ones as the tide graph won't really be needed, except for maybe a hand full of times.

Military time aside, it was easy to ballpark what time is was roughly to within 5 minutes or so. I am pretty good with it now though. I am usually within a minute or two.  :D

I just love the laid back, I don't need to count every second vibe it gives off  ;)

I have family members in Schramberg. My moms aunt lives less than 100 meters from the Junghans factory and used to work there for many years. I've had a few of their watches over the years too. :D
