When I visited my local outdoorshop a couple of weeks ago they gave a 30% discount on the Leatherman Skeletools they had in stock, I was tempted but hoped that they would go down to 50%, and guess what ...  :D

Oddly enough, I still had to pay 100% at the register ...

Leatherman Contest win.   :mail:
Had to add a smaller link as it was a tad snug. Tread has some heft to it too.

I just got the Mini.  All cleaned up and ready to go.  I don't think it was really used by the looks of it.  It was a bit dirty, but cleaned up just fine :)

I agree, I had a 1970 Mick Andrews 250 Trials,  green and yellow, same as the Pioneer. Loved it.

A $4 eBay PST, worked over pretty well, but plenty of life left. Wish I had pics of the before.. It was pretty dirty, completely broken blade, jammed cutters. It's from 0194/0194, Marlboro edition. I took it apart, soaked the plier head in 50/50 ATF/acetone. Spent an hour or so cleaning every piece with a shop rag and a bit of wood to scrape with.

After cleaning and working the plier head out, I grabbed a hand file and went to town on the wire cutters, which now bypass with minimal contact, only at the very end, and not enough to really hold the jaws shut. The cutters still work fine.

Next, I set about fixing my knife situation. I had a combo edge sog blade, off a powerlock. It was better than the stub left, but a touch too thin. I had to steal a washer off of my custom kick, and then set about hand filing the back of the pivot so it would sit right in the handle, and a little off the top so the lockup isn't bending the spring so far.

In the end, the Philips is chewed but functional, the file is broken but mostly there, the little driver is now reprofiled, in addition to the above. But for $4, and a bit of love, this tool still has a lot of life left, no need to involve the company  :tu:

Bought this No. 6 new for $6.75 shipped.  I bought it mostly because the seller threw in a Duracell screwdriver, which I had gotten with batteries years before, but my grandmother once confused the handle (has a double sided flat and Phillips blade bit and I'd misplaced the bit at the time) for a dead AA battery and tossed it with a bunch of other dead Duracells I'd forgotten to throw away at the time. Learned my lesson that day, throw away my dead batteries as soon as I change them!

I will be using the No 6 as a backup and a a multitool I can carry when I'm going to places that don't allow knives. The screwdriver will be used for the same thing I kept the old one for, one I keep on my dresser to open battery compartments.

At about $3 a piece, I think I did well.
