Olight S1R

First some pics

Then the list of features:

Cree XM-L2 LED
Powered by a 550mAh RCR123 customized battery of five times discharging rate, giving a maximum output up to 900 lumens
The flashlight can be charged through the magnetic contact charging port (other batteries may also be used in S1R, but cannot be charged)
New 750mA portable USB charging cable
Brightness increases or decreases gradually: when the flashlight is switched on/off, it will light up or fade gradually to protect eyes from the stimulation caused by sudden brightness changes
Flat magnetic tailcap that allows it to be secured to ferrous metal surfaces as a hands-free option
Lockout mode can be activated on the side switch for accidental triggering protection, along with a low-voltage indicator underneath
Reverse polarity protection circuits
Timer Setting: Short (3 minutes) and long (9 minutes)
The standby current is below 30uA
Now I’ve become a bit of a fan of Olights over the laws years but this one takes them to a whole new level.

At low level 0.5 lumens at will run for 15 days, modes are 0.5,12,60 and 300 lumens. When you’re in turbo mode you can access Turbo S. Now a word of caution here, 900 lumens in this small a package has a couple of drawbacks. The first is the obvious, it’s retina melting bright so keep it away from kids. Plus points here to olight for a lockout. The other drawback is the heat, in such a small torch it doesn’t have enough surface area to dissipate the heat. Again olight have thought of this and 900 lumens is limited to 1.5 minutes. It will get extremely hot and could cause burns again with the keeping away from kids.

The new compact charging base is a much better fit than the previous model, but it lacks the USB port that allowed charging of other items.

Overall it’s another improvement over their previously very good offerings.

Also got an S1R...
I prefer the older charging dock as it was standing on its own.

Simply put the S1R is more compact, higher lumen and longer battery life. The UI has been improved and they've added an illuminated switch which tells you if it's locked and also when the battery is getting low.

Couple of my latest flashlights:
ThorFire KL02, great CR123 light

Two different versions of Blocklite 9V-they run for hours even on old 9V batteries, and they cost less than $5 with the brand new 9V battery included

Only had it a couple of weeks but liking it so far.  Brighter, lighter, and more compact than the old 4xAA (Princeton Tec Apex) headlamp it replaced.

Just had a look at the specs and found out it runs on either CR123A or AA cells.  That's a cracking feature on a headlamp IMO. :tu:

I picked this up about a week ago.  I've been wanting one of these for a long time and when a newer model comes out, opportunity awaits on the used market.
