Bought five "Ford" brand no-name flashlights from eBay, expecting cheap lights, and ended up with five 3-mode Ultrafire flashlights, which are very flash. :)

Just got in a Tank007 PA02.  Early impressions are good, nothing stand-out and mind blowing, but good none-the-less. :)

Not sure if I'll get the PA02 or the E11. May end up grabbing both.

Anyone ever herd of Lumapower LM31 EDC LED flashlight? This one will take the AA or 14500, but They have a few others, the other ones they make will take the 123, AAA, or AA x2. They also have different designs, Just thought I would ask.. JR

I've heard good things about Lumapower LM31 but I don't have any personal experience with them.

I have some a couple of Peak Eigers coming.  I'm really looking forward to one of them--the high CRI version of the one I carry daily.

Just got my Streamlight Microstream C4 in and first impressions aren't great. I'm real iffy on it right now and it's going to have to do some serious impressing over the next week or so.

I like the size and pocket clip........ aaaaaand that's about it. The neck lanyard is cool, but the quick release does not work. The finish on the light is not very good. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures, but many spots seem raised and looks like there is extra finish or spots that were rough underneath and thus after the finish got applied it looks raised. Imagine painting over a unclean surface. Same look. So I popped the battery in and WOW.......how underwhelming...... It says this one is 35 lumens and the ones reviewed online were 28 if I remember correctly. Not sure if it is just seeing it through video, but it looked much brighter than mine appears to be. I even changed the battery out to a different one because I thought the battery they sent me was bad or something, but nope. Big letdown on this one, but it is just a first impression. Sometimes I don't like products when I first get them and they grow on me. I just can't get over how dim the light seems. I just did a side by side with the tiny little LED Lenser K2 and its basically the same brightness.

35 Lumens is perfect for a "task" light, but certainly not something that will blow your mind.  For a single-level light, my preferred output is somewhere in the 25-40 lumens range.  Outside of that range, I find that the output is either too bright or too dim for certain tasks.

I find the brightness of my Microstream to be good for most tasks. Of course I mostly just carry it because it's cheap and I don't worry about loaning it out to other people. I mostly use my HDS or Surefire  :D

All this talk of the Microstream got me thinking about my old Monarch 300; similar size and function.  IIRC it's only rated at 16 lumen, but I've always felt it seems much brighter than that number suggests.  A lot is to do with the way the beam is profiled with a very tight hotspot though still with a notable spill.  Great little task light IMO and goes to show it's not always about having hundreds and hundreds of Lumen. :)

I actually do use that 30ish - lumen setting the most... For example, at night, I put my Fenix LD12 in a glass and use it as an evening light at its 30-lumen setting. My LD05 comes on 30-35 first and this is what I use the most. I keep my Fenix E11 on its 30ish lumen setting, too. Of course, having some options is always nice.

Even with my Thrunite TN12 (that is capable of over 700 lumen) the mode I use the most is it's low mode of 30 lumen.  In a room sized space it's more than enough IMO.
