The inspiration for Velcro
« on: December 27, 2011, 01:29:11 AM »
Whilst hiking in the swamp today, I picked up a few hitchhikers:

I hope the fellow who invented Velcro didn't claim it was an "original" idea of his ;)

That reminded me of the joys of picking them off the dog when I was a kid.  :D

This is why nudist hiking is one of the world's most dangerous adventures.

We just call them burrs, but I'm sure that isn't the scientific name for them. ;)  My Garmin is a 60CS model, new in 2004. Of the maps available back then, their Roads & Highways set was the only one that showed all of the backroads and two-tracks in my area, so that's what I installed. :)

Bob were you Geocaching  :D :D

No Mat :D And if I was, I probably would have needed to call your wife to help me sort out the next clue! :D

Yeah, that can be a pain. :-\ We had beagles growing up, which weren't so bad with their short hair, but my friend's golden retriever :ahhh :ahhh Man I have never seen a dog collect so many burrs, and 90% of them right in the crotch area :P

That is a good GPS you have there- I love mine!

As for the burrs, well you haven't lived until you have tried to pull thenm out from a husky's super dense undercoat!

A CSx model, nice! I think Kenneth (Medic) has that same one too. :tu: My CS model is going on 8 years old now, which is prehistoric by sophisticated electronics standards, but it still feels pretty damn current with the other GPS units available today :)

Those are good GPS`s. I've got an Garmin etrex Legend. I`ve had it for years. It does what I need but its really seems like a dinosaur these days.

The newest ones do have an aerial photo map layer, which is really tempting me to upgrade :-\
