I've used the Garmin Nuvi 350 for the last 3 years or so.... but.... I'll be installing a new 2450LM into my vehicle this week.  With the lower prices of GPS units, and smart-phones  with GPS I'm hoping it will be safe to leave in the vehicle 24/7 without worry about having it stolen.

I have a old handheld Garmin as well, but I've not used it in 10 years, it may not even turn on anymore.

So right now I'm sold on Garmin units, although I'm not always a fan of the company.

There's another problem with leaving it in your car, although this may not be as much of a concern for you as it was here.  Liquid crystal screens freeze and that's not good for them.  Don't ask how I know this, but I will say that it's one of the reasons my wife finally agreed to upgrade to a smart phone.   :ahhh

@Top-Gear: Don't worry about getting that thing wet!  Mine has been through both salt and fresh water on many occasions and has never had the slightest problem.  The salt water is not only corrosive, but as you see in this video, is also high pressure!  It has almost gone overboard several times and I'm glad that I use the lanyard to strap it to the deck in addition to using the clip!

I am still getting used to it really- I have a few functions that I use but there are a lot more I don't use or haven't discovered yet.  One of these days I'll figure out how to put the topo maps on it...

I use it on my MTB, I use it when I'm in the Ardennes forest looking for World War II foxholes,

Thats interesting , have you ever found any relics or anything ?

Some bullets, some bullet casings (is this right ?  I don't know how you say this in English) and a lot of shrapnel ...

World War II in Belgium was mostly in the Ardennes, but World War I was more in the area near my home, when I go out in the fields here with a colleague from work and our metal detectors we regularly find some interesting things, like buttons, (with emblems on them), division emblems, lots of bullets, German money,  and a lot of shrapnel balls, and sometimes some old money (Roman coins, or medieval coins) and old Musket balls, ...

Here's a topic with some pics : http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,23474.0.html

My apologies for the "off-topic"  :-[.

I remember that thread now , I'd love to go there . Thanks fo sharing .

I use a Garmin eTrex H and my iPhone 4S. They've been great for hiking and geocaching.
Just don't say fecal coagulation.  :twak: - Mr. Whippy

Tested the new Garmin 2450LM on the weekend.  I like it, but man their interface still needs lots of refining, I'm surprised they have taken so long to improve it, with all the new features they have taken a step backward in some areas.

Used their friction mount but it works well on my dash and keeps the unit below the windsheild like from my angle of view so it works perfectly.  I did notice it make one bad route while I was just fooling around which resulted in a big circle rather than a simple right, left.

Still despite a few frustrations I think it will work out well, and I have my smaller 350 for backup and pocket carry.
