I've got my eye on the MPB... not for "Carry" but to keep in the car, sort of a BOB, but has the GPS, log book, change of clothes and basic tools in case I need to go truckin on short notice.

I love my Neatfreak, great bag for EDC. It does require a great deal of self control though. With all the pockets it's way too easy to stuff full.

Yea, I don't know.  I little too Batman utility belt for me.  I prefer the Timbuk2 solution.  I honkin' big pouch and a few smaller pockets.

If they could get an "Auto-stir" function working, it would be perfect. 8)

When filled only to the point where it keeps it's intended shape, it is the perfect size bag. Great for shopping, going to the show, flea markets, etc...

Plus it constantly forces you to make the best use of the space. Instead of thinking "that's cool" about something, and just throwing it in your bag, you have to pause and evaluate if what you want to carry is really necessary.

This is only true if your goal is to keep it a compact, and convenient bag. If you watch some of the YouTube videos on it, you'll see that some folks find it necessary to keep the bag "ball" shaped at all times, and very clumsy looking.

For about half the size you would want the FR-1 Pouch (does not come with a shoulder strap though)

But the Neatfreak will make a great small auto bag.  :tu:

The FR-1 is a nice pouch; doesn't look right on the back of a PFII, but I'll be getting a shoulder strap for it soon, as a much less obnoxious way to carry a pack, as opposed to the much larger PFII. :)

Yea, an FR-1 on a PFII would look like a big mole on someone's back  :D

I figured that out after I got it and mounted it on the PFII... it lasted all of a couple hours, I think, before I removed it and bookmarked a shoulder strap for it. XD

Have you checked eBay? I sometimes see really good prices on Maxped straps and shoulder pads there. Colors are hit and miss, but you never know what might pop up :tu:

Is getting a shoulder pad worth it?  I have a messenger bag I'd have loaded down, with just a shoulder strap, and it never bothered me.

It depends on the thickness to the strap material. With a Maxped strap, and more than say a 5 to 8 pound load, I'd say yes. On an FR-1 it probably isn't needed.

That being said, even with a light load in my Neatfreak, the shoulder pad does a great job of allowing the strap to slide through it, and lets me reposition the bag around my body with ease, while the pad stays put. Not usually a big deal, but when dressed for winter, and wearing a heavy coat, it works out quite well.
