Opinions Wanted- Most Useful Small LM?
« on: January 14, 2012, 11:24:28 PM »
I know I'll get a wide variety of opinions- that's sort of why I'm asking you multitool maniacs...
I carry a Surge, and I recently acquired an ST300 as well. Big capable tools, which I love to death. But sometimes the Surge is a bit of overkill just for quick stupid little spur-of-the-moment tasks. So, gang...
What is YOUR vote for the smallest yet most capable Leatherman for either keychain or pocket carrying?
I'm leaning towards a style cs or ps, mainly because I like the idea of clipping the sucker to my beltloop or keyring or whatever, but I'm even having trouble deciding between pliers or scissors, and going without the knife... Cripes, the more I research. The more my head hurts. So give me your two cents, and help preserve what little sanity I have left. Thanks...

When in doubt buy both! I've been doing the style CS trick for a while, I like having scissors all the time so with it I can carry the ST300 and give my SURGE a break. It's not a bad tool at all, scissors on par with micras and squirts in my experience. I like all LM's keychain tools honestly. Our full sizers are not so friendly for unscheduled personal grooming. This all being said the style CS tweezers are impossible to get out without some coaxing from another tool. The micra has the heavy duty tweezers but are a permanent fixture on the tool which has its draw-backs. So I guess you can't go wrong but I also dig the cs for the carabiner, being able to easily take it off your keys to use is great. Good luck choosing!

Definitely Style PS for me... Nothing beats pliers & scissors in such a small package..  :tu:

Micra would get my vote, probably followed by P4. I've not gone for PS4 as I liked the mini driver and awl on the P4, but your take may be different

I prefer pocket carry over keychain, so if you want to go that route I would definitely suggest a Juice S2. It's the lightest/smallest of the juice line.

I have to go old school with saying the PST or PST II as the most useful, followed by the Micra and Squirt P4, of which all but the tireless Micra have been retired.

+1 on the PST or PSTII.  For light duty they are incredible.  If you want an even more versatile option check out the sideclip.

I'm going all out and say a retired LM Mini tool. It even folds out to a full size multi.

I prefer pocket to keychain carry and would recommend the Juice S2 or my favorite, the Juice SC2, hard to find but worth the search. Both of these just disappear in the watch pocket.

The Style PS is on my gadget key ring. It is a nice little tool. The Juices are nice tools for their size. It took me awhile to warm up to them but really like them now. Of course if you want scissors the Micra is one of the best tools LM has ever made. Everyone should own at least one.   :)

micra if you do not need pliers or one from the squirt line if you need them. freestyle tweezers are hit and miss with respect to ease of extraction.

To replace a full size tool +1 vote for the juice s2.

mine 'moment of needing quick solution always been saved by micra..as its always attached to keys..(ive got 2 micra, both hooked to key bunch)...mostly jobs requiring tightening of small screws, cuttings.
for more brute force..st300 got the roll call :o
i got minitool too, and its now only comes out for breather! :twak:

i carry a micra and it does the job. i keep wanting to get a style ps but don't see the point in carrying two pares of pliers with me when i could have scissors instead.

for pocket carry i like the juice s2 also. its a good size and has a lot of functions. also if you put it on a p7 suspension clip and hang it in your pocket, you hardly know its there till you need it. :tu:

+1 for the Micra and Style CS, I have a PS but prefer to have scissors over pliers and the carabiner clip is a nice addition.
