Leatherman OHT
« on: January 18, 2012, 03:07:10 AM »
We didn't have our meeting at Leatherman today, we just stopped by on our way somewhere else, but here are some preliminary photos of the new One Handed Tool:

Sliding head Leatherman?

More and better pictures tomorrow.

It doesn indeed look like every tool on it can be opened one handed.

Finally a tool for nailbiters!  :ahhh

I'm intrigued. What implements is the OHT sporting?

I think there is going to be an OHT in my future.   Will there be a pocket clip or lanyard ring for it?

Wait, I thought Gerber didn't make new tools in the US anymore.

I still can't stop translating "OHT" to "One Handed Trekker" in my head.

It looks like a great tool for the military and public safety markets. Probably not of much interest to most of us aside from as a collection piece. I like the idea of Cerakote but it does concern me a bit that it's already wearing off on the plier head after a day of being played with, hopefully that's just a prototype fluke.

I don't know what to think here without seeing the inner tools.  It seems like a good idea but at first glance it doesn't seem as sturdy as the gerber sliding designs.

You either huh?  I have the same problem.

Sorry, I forgot to post this pic- I was in such a hurry to get stuff up I must have missed it.

Do the military types really like woodsaws more than files?

How did it feel , solid ? Re : the Ceracoat , it might just be a proto , not actual production ceracoat . The stuff I've seen on guns is pretty tuff .

I'll be on the lookout for one when they come out .

The entire tool itself seemed a bit.....big, and cumbersome. :-\  Especially for the length of the blades and the size of the pliers it had. :(  Essentially it seemed like a "Super Tool sized" tool with "PST-sized" pliers and blades.

In Leatherman's defense though, we were told that these are still just early prototypes. Release date for the OHT is supposed to be 3rd quarter 2012, so hopefully they will juggle the proportions between now and then. :salute:
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools
