I haven't followed Tool Logic for some time now and didn't know about the SL Pliers. I just got myself a copy off eBay.  :salute:

The quality of the PowerDuo seemed fine to me (except for that phillips driver) but I'm still not sure if the whole large-knife-multitool concept works for me..?

In any case, a few subtleties that you might be interested in:

Plier jaws are tapered on one side, flat on the other, just like the Pocket Power Plier.

Stainless steel liners between each blade, instead of aluminum.

Lots of internal cutouts to reduce weight.

Slot cut into plier handle, which makes it easy to use your thumb to one-hand-open the pliers

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

If they can get that Phillips sorted, yeah. I think this is one of the better looking minimalist tools, and while it might not be as pocketable as the Octane, or have the Skele's bottle opening prowess - I think this is going to find it's way into a few pockets over the course of the year. I see this more as a competitor against Vic's 111mm and Wengers 120mm lines rather than the Octane/Skele

If I was after a pliers and knife minimalist tool, this may very well be it, on both of those fronts it doesn't seem to skimp.

It is a shame it doesnt have a bit driver instead of the individual drivers.

The more I look at it, the more I like the tool.  Still not a fan of cut-outs instead of nail nicks, but that's a personal beef.  I think I'd rather carry this tool than a Skeletool, honestly. :tu:

I have been wondering how you deploy the pliers , are they locked into the handle & require unlocking to deploy or do they have a detent system & you use your thumb to open them  .
Be cool if you could flick them open & pretend they are like a Switchplier  :D :D

If you grab the smaller handle you can flick them open in typical SOG tool style, but watch out as that larger handle gets hungry and takes a chunk from your finger when it comes back around!

I think you're right. Nice to see a minimalist tool sporting a plain edged blade too, rather than a combo

Yeah i agree Al, although i like  serrated blades if no other saw on the tool, this needs a seperate  saw  :D  :ahhh  :ahhh
