I still have to pinch myself that I won the TI Urban Pioneer that Syph is using as his avatar. It is crazy groovy and it is my constant companion. If you could baby a tool made of TI and steel, well it is happening here.

The thing is, I can't explain how great the sak is and the interesting backstory of how I won it without sounding like a complete maniac. I tried once and by the time I got to knife throwing, Canada, YouTube and 88 the listener was clearly lost.

Since the BO spartans all sold in a few days Im going to run more in a week or so.  If anyone has any special BO requests let me know and I can include what you need.

The only thing different Im adding for myself is a complete set of workchamp parts.  I scored some black slide lock scales so I'm making an all black workchamp for fun.  :D

Here is today's project.  A big wide wenger and Vic alox custom.

It was quite a challenge to get the parts to fit well.  Luckily I was able to fit the thicker rivet side of the pliers into the empty space next to the phillips and everything just fits.   :tu:

Cheers!

A real monster!  It's a bit of a shame that it has the screwed Wenger scissors. I have found that they are a bit self destructive. The riveted ones seem to be longer lasting in my experience.

Cheers!

Either that or a modern day farmer, come on to our farm and the only wood you'll find is in pallets. Workshop's just full of metalworking tools.

I'll state for the record that I am not a big fan of G10 at all.  Its ok, but to me its just reinforced plastic and plastic on knives well just isn't my thing.  Which is why I love alox SAKs so much.  Swapping nickel silver or brass liners for plastic to me is a downgrade, but this is a relatively easy way to get colored liners without having to anodize Aluminum ones.

Now Ive had enough people ask me for G10 liners on alox mods over the last couple years that I finally caved and did a 3 color run of G10 liners for some people that wanted them and also as a curiosity and waterjet test of the material.

I was really curious about delamination of G10 as its a problem with some materials and waterjet.  You can see here where the jet pierced the material the delamination was significant.  Unfortunately that means I could not cut the holes and could only get the profiles done.

The orange liners I think would look pretty nice with HA black scales, so I do want to build one of those as a test.  I imagine if I wet sand the edges and then wipe with acetone that should give the waterjet edges a smooth look.

Holes should be easy to do though since its quite soft so you could clamp few layers and drill in one go

I tried some of the G10 liners, and Im not impressed at all.  I think my initial instinct not to use G10 for liner material was correct, now I wish I didnt waste money on having them waterjet.  :D  The problem is its not a very rigid material compared to metals and well, its plastic so it's really a downgrade to a nice alox SAK in my opinion.

So... I was back today working with my favorite liner material, brass!  Black hard anodized scales paired with polished brass liners is the best way to go for a high end finish.   :tu:
