Since the BO spartans all sold in a few days Im going to run more in a week or so.

My BO parts and black alox 91 liners are ready for tomorrow pickup, so I'll have 10 more blacked out spartans and 10 blacked out campers available later in the week.  The campers I made with wood saw layers from swisschamps so they have the chisel on the back as well.

Cheers

Got my parts! :D Last time I built the blacked out mods I had piles of parts and that was annoying to sort through so this time I bought some extra storage bins to help parts sort.  I put all the parts needed to build a SAK in one compartment.  So now I just have to do a bunch of peening over the next week and they're good to go.  :tu:

2 bins of spartans and 2 of campers.

It feels good to use up the extra parts that werent getting any love.  :D

Some more yellow cerakote today.  This one is fully decked out in brass.  I made the liners, keyring nub, phillips spacers and spacer for the electricans blade all from nicely polished brass. :D

:D  That kind wouldnt have much value though! :D

But yes, black oxide is often shortformed to BO.

It's Fe3O4, (magnetite).  As a interesting aside, if you watch gold rush, when they talk about the 'black sand' that is mixed with find gold, thats the same stuff, magnetite.   :tu:

More brass and cerakote today  :tu:

I swear someday I'll get caught up on the standard mods then come up with some new stuff.  Locking Ti liners is for sure next when I get time.

Can you do patterns in your Cerakote?

That orange has me thinking of tigers' stripes!

Jeff Forbush is my cerakote guy, and Ive seen him do things like that.  Camo patterns and stripes, but I haven't asked him to try yet.

Funny thing you mentioned tiger stripes.  Ive been looking for a good vector file to have some vinyl masks cut to use in Ti anodizing, to get a tiger stripe effect.  I know a sign maker that has a large vinyl cutter and he said I just need to supply him the vector file.  :D

I finished my marathon peening session today and listed the BO'd spartans and campers if anyone was wanting those.  It seems like a simple enough task but peening up 20 SAKs in one go is a looooong process.  :D

What, no fish scalers?

Hmm I COULD have added those yes.. BUT I dont think it was worth the extra few bucks to have more parts BO'd and liners anodized.  In the last 3 years I can only remember using one on an alox mod 1 time, and one other time on a cellidor mod.

I'll throw in a couple for next time and make some BO'd fishermen type SAKs.  :D  Or maybe I can call them panel punch tools and say they are for electricians?

I have a feeling its not the same steel they use in the blades and wouldnt hold much of an edge... but maybe?   I made one into a long spike / awl once with a hole in the end and took off the bottom prong, but it was still too thin to be sturdy.
