One word, brass!

Ya I was just ordering a piece the right thickness... Id like a Ti explorer, brass mag glass holder, brass liners, brass cross, brass tweezer.... yup... that would be good.... or the same as a yeoman config.

You think?

I can't see a little nub to deploy the mag glass. Could you position the set screw for double purpose?

I remove that nub when I put the mag glass on a 93mm frame as it sticks up too far.  I also grind round recesses in the backsprings to allow it to sit as low as possible.

Does the mag glass hold the olde style or new style lens?

This is an amazing mod but either of the Victorinox lenses are not really good enough for the effort and quality of this, for me the lens out of a decent loupe would be perfect ... I am not suggesting cannibalising my vintage Zeiss  :) but a lens from a $5 dollar loupe would make for a fantastic upgrade :)

I took apart an old optical microscope x10 eyepiece  ($1) and the lens wold be a little to big for the  grey plastic and a little to small for the clear plastic .... but that would be such a great upgrade :)

Hey Syph007, unless I am mistaken you can make 84mm scissors by modding 91mm ones. If this is correct, then could you make 84mm pliers out of 91mm ones;

Yes I think that would work ok.   Its not hard but its time consuming with lots of trial and error to get a perfect fit.

I wouldn't mind and 84 mm deluxe tinker though.

If you remove the can opening part of the can opener  (it sounds kind of silly, I know) , is the remaining driver a good 2D Philips? How does it compare to the 3D Philips?

Depends on the grinding job you do. ;)

I've found it to be a passable driver for both philips and flat. It definitely improves the reach compared to leaving the blade on.

Compared to the dedicated inline philips, it's not as strong, otherwise, it depends on how much you want to use it. For lots of use on stubborn screws, 3d all the way.

If you add serrations on the pen knife blade, will it still be able to cut paper smoothly? I am asking because some serrated blades rip it instead of cutting it.

Is it easy for a customer of yours to take apart and put back together your SAKs? If yes then perhaps you could provide different length screws, so that we could choose which tools to carry, a modular SAK!

Usually his customs use torx screws and barrel pivots.  It's not just the length of the screws but the length of the pivot barrels and the diameter of the hole in the tools.  You would need to have a variety of tools prepped and an appropriate length set of pivots for each configuration.  Other than that, it should work.  You might need some special pivots once you start to get over 4 layers or so.

No not easy but people do take them apart.  Up to 3 layes is doable but beyond that a vice is needed to compress the springs.  It not like a folder where scales lift off.  These springs provide significant force which must be resisted to snap on the scale.

I've used a well padded set of vise grips to compress the springs on my syph mod. I've taken it apart and put it back together many times without too much trouble.

Finally I could work again today.  I had a weird chest pain, not heart attack bad though but annoying for a couple weeks.  I finally ended up in emerg on Friday and found out I had walking pneumonia.   Sure is nice to be able to breath fully again and get back to work!

Today I put together another Ti wrench mod.  :D

This is custom Mod #500  !!

The customer wanted some grip lines on this one and heat anodized scales.  I just hit it with the torch for a bit to add some texture and it seems to have worked ok.
