Crazy idea... That brass mag glass... on a... 58mm Ti Rambler/Vagabond/etc...

I had a request for that a year ago, and the project is back on.... it wont be on backsprings though as it will need the whole layer space.  But yes.. doable.  :D
Curious as to what the back would look like.

Hmmm... maybe not a good fit...  I can tweak the holder but the lens is really too big. Hmmm... maybe with custom scales to accomodate the shape.

So I figured a yeoman would be a nice test build... and this is pretty blinged out.

- Ti-6-4 scales
- Copper cross
- Brass tweezers
- Brass liners and keyring holder
- Brass Mag glass holder

I call this one a compact with better backside tools, with the oops I forgot the customer wanted brass liner special.  :D

Extreme closeup of tweezer head.  You cant even see the rivet.  :D

And.... soon I will have more capbilities.  I realized I will never have time to CNC convert my mill so I am ordering this little bad boy.  Im waiting on a freight quote to Canada then it's a go.  :D

Yup Im excited!

Got the freight quote... only 750! :D  It is almost 900 lbs though.  I have no idea if thats a fair price or not, but I dont have many options.  I hope I can ebay off the conversion kit I bought for my other mill.

But I'll be one of the first, if not the first in Canada to get a 440. :D  I talked to some other Tormach owners and they assured me this machine will be plenty to do what I have planned.

Im going to put some effort in on the youtube content when I get this in and hopefully show off some cool stuff.

I've looked at Tormachs on and off and the 440 seems to be extremely popular and capable.  Someday my workshop will be that level of cool, or so I hope.  Should do some amazing things.

If you're making a list of people that want pen capable 58mm knives, put me down!  I'd need the tweezers too.

I want to make the little plastic thing for the pen from brass, and mill a pocket out of the Ti scales and have that option for any of the Ti scaled mods... oh baby.

Does this mean we will start seeing toothpicks, tweezers and pens in your Ti scales soon? If you could give me Ti scales with a toothpick and pen slot.... I might have to give in.

Just finished the whole thread. All I can say is wow!

I can see a custom SAK in my future.  How about  a Pioneer with the awl removed and the bottle and can openers moved to the back side?

Something simple.

My first post BTW.

I get asked alot if I have any 'in stock' mods to sell and I never do.  So I decided that I should and that it would be a brass blinged out super tinker, so I started making 4.  It does go easier if you are doing multiples of things at the same time.

I finished one and this will be my display model pics for when people ask.  This is my favorite of the Ti mods I do with brass accents and copper cross.   :tu:

They are all great work!  I particularly like the Yeoman as I really like the inline philips and mag layer!

Sometime I will have to force myself to get one!  Would there be any trouble with rust/corrosion or whatever on the brass liners after a period of time of ownership?

They will dim over time, but can always be re-polished.  I use cartridge brass, the same stuff shell casings are made from, so Id expect it to look pretty similar over time.
