The SkinthTB (TrailBlazer) Fire Starting/BushCraft Sheath Carry
« on: January 23, 2012, 08:04:40 AM »
Here we are folks!

From concept to reality...the prototype for The SkinthTB (TrailBlazer).

The SkinthTB is constructed from various colours of 1000D PU Cordura. Just for fun, I used some extra Coyote Brown, OD Green, and the main flap Woodland Camo. The side tubes are boxed out instead of folded and tacked. This achieves a longer pocket and the same diameter from top to bottom.

The backside of the SkinthTB can be outfitted with any kind of carrying devices, this particular one has a MOLLE attachment I wanted to try out. I would imagine having horizontal carry straps would be useful for attaching this to backpack straps.

The SkinthTB can hold an AAA light or a slim AA or CR123 light.

The other side tube, marked with bright orange...a space for a match tubes up to 4" tall. This way, there is no guessing when in the field.

The inside of the SkinthTB can be loaded with bushcraft tools, a full size (4.5") folder, ferrorod, pry bar, and an Altoids tin (box is sized for mock up). I made a mistake and added the loop side of the velcro on the body, I was in the zone ah well. Prototypes.

The interior organizers provide space for up to 9 individual item, I didn't tack down the inner most layer so that any size folder can be placed, the one in the picture is my largest folding know (4.5")

Anyone want this one? or a new one?

Some more innovations on this one. A set of pen/knife loops on the front of the Trailblazer in addition to a row of elastic webbing under the flap for flat items.

oh man it looks even more awesome in tactical black on ninja black.

I am going to use this as my set building pouch later this month when I build a 'Apres Ski' themed party at an art gallery. The paracord tether is for duct and gaff tape to hang from my belt.

I can put my phone in it!

One last glory shot.

I've been wanting to make one call the Best Boy, this maybe a good candidate.

Here it is in OD:

I'm having a hard time determining which configuration I like best.   :ahhh

Having this is some tabular form, or set up so that it was easy to see what models had what features would help me and my OCD immensely.  :pok:

There wasn't enough traffic on MTO to do this BUT i have set up a FAQ thread with all the current, in prototype and in potentia models at EDCF:

http://edcforums.com/showthread.php/92254-Skinth-Series-FAQ

It's going to be continually updated with the latest questions and formulations for construction etc.

Also, my website has the in production models listed with descriptions and photos:

When I'm in the woods, I'm usually carrying one of a couple of sheath knives (ranging from Buck 140 Paklite to Ka-Bar MKII) and I'd want to be able to consolidate the whole thing. And chance of a pocket like theone notepad pocket on the Command Post, but without a bottom and with hook and loop lining the inside of it, letting me anchor a rigid sheath inside there, or locking it closed when carried alone.

I'm mostly asking in terms of feasability- I'm planning on making a more serious inquiry with you in a few months. :)
There is man the tool maker, man the tool user, and man the tool- choose your path wisely.

Man with tool is ready for trouble. Many with many tools can go looking for trouble.
