Victorinox's answer to the Juice - Please...

I've only recently joined this forum - can't keep off it.....love it !!
I own a few SAKs both Victorinox and Wenger also a few MT's.
Tho' my judgement doesn't count for much in the presence of you fellas - my own personal view is that nobody beat's the Swiss for out & out tool/build quality........
N O B O D Y
The magnificent swisstool is BIG, The spirit is much better, however I'm certain if victorinox were to reduce the spirit's size even further into the realms of the juice it would simply dominate the minitool market.
Can you even begin to imagine how sublime a swiss version of the juice would be...........
If they don't bring one out soon, I'll be forced to morph two alox's together.

That's been a dream of many of us for some time now. There may be something in the works, Def gave a few hints about something new he saw from Vic, but nothing specific yet. I think/hope he was talking about something in this size.

The SwissTool was first shown in 1997. The Spirit came along in 2004.
It's definitely time for Victorinox to bring out the next smaller version.

I think Vic has held off so long because a Vic version of a “Juice” would cut into their SAK sales.
But if they did make a small multitool, I’d be interested.

That's an interesting point shamus,
However, would it ?
There are countless SAK / MT's out there now competing for the lions share of the market - yet Victorinox still seems to be as popular as ever.
But now plier based tools ARE here to stay - If Victorinox cannot give us what we want then we are forced to go to another manufacturer who will.
As a EDC I will NOT even contemplate carrying duplicated tools just because I want to stay brand loyal. But yet I do not see the point now in any multi-purpose EDC if it doesn't contain traditional based pliers.
Because Victorinox has steadfastly stuck to it's impeccable quality control which is now the measure of all other MT's - I think it's fair to say it would be a forgone conclusion that if this " Minitool " was ever realised it would send ALL the other manufactuers back to the drawing boards.
I say Bring it on
If enough interest could be shown then surely they would meet the demand.

I suspect we'll find out at next years SHOT show, along with whether or not the blades will lock if they do

I think we're just getting carried away, but I too would love to see something like this. I have an S2 and it's a good little tool. I carry it on the strap of my EDC bag instead of my Swiss Champ now. It's smaller and lighter, and has everything I need and nothing I don't.
That said, I do have some issues with it. One, is that I hate the blade. The profile is lousy, though I realize compromises had to be made to make it work in the form factor of the tool. That said, it doesn't hold an edge very well, although it's easy to sharpen. I also hate hollow ground blades. I suspect that's one reason why it doesn't hold an edge very well for me.
I'd happily trade the overabundance of flat head drivers too. If they'd just remove the largest flathead driver and put a fine point phillips driver in it, like an 0 or an 00 size, that would be much more useful to me.
I also don't like that the tool is riveted together. They use screw and bolt construction on all the Style's, so for pete's sake, why can't the do it on the Juices too?
I'd love to see a Juice sized SAK alternative. I'd be willing to pay more for a tool that's the same size, but with a better balance of implements, a better quality blade, and something that is more easily maintainable.

That's my view exactly - I'm sure if this were ever to come into being - it would simply be viewed as another model in Victorinox MT line up.
Victorinox's current MT's are considerably more than their SAK range, in that I don't see why a new model would impact on current SAK sales. - It simply allows us, the buyer more options than having to abandon the brand name and go look some place else.
What I don't understand is that both the Swisstool & Spirit have been very well received by us the consumer - why would Victorinox not want to capitalize on their positiion and move further into MT territory??
Judging by the replies so far, the current concensus is we'd all be happy to pay the premium that the two MT models currently command.
I'm beginning to suspect it would probably be the best seller in their MT line up - obviously depending upon it's features.
