My first was a Vic classic with Michelin printed on the side my Dad gave me when I was probably 7 or 8 yo. It's long gone now. I remember my grandfather using a silver alox SAK I'd like to find. He's passed away now and whether it's in the house still is a mystery to me. Grammy might have gotten rid of that stuff but I hope it's still around.
good reading guys!

I guess I have 2. First is my old 80s model spartan. That's the knife that eventually lead me here. It was broke and I was searching on how to fix it, as I couldn't bear to send it away to Vic. Through my searches, and asking for parts on EDCF, I met sazabi (Rex) who recommended this place. That was it, I was home finally. The second is my gerber mp400. That thing has been through hell and back and never once let me down. I keep it as a backup.

My first two SAKs - a BSA Tinker and a Vagabond - my grandfather's SAK (though never used), an advertising Climber, and a no-name knockoff of a PST, which was my first multitool, are all special to me.

Ah well, looks like I didn't get entered into that Leatherman contest after all. Every time I try to enter one, I never make it. On the plus side, lots of great participation in this thread, I enjoyed reading everyone's postings.

Great stories guys!
My son is safety-orange crazy right now... loves anything that's orange; clothes, tools, school supplies, etc. I got him a Spartan for scouts a couple of summers ago, but he's always been leery of it because nothing on it locks. For Christmas I gave him one of the new orange Delicas, and he loves it and has been very respectful of it as a tool. He doesn't seem to be afraid of it, and it's a good size for his 11 y.o. hands. I hope that some day he'll think about that knife the way we think about our prized tools.

The Most Important To Me... Well Only One Is An SAK. But I Have 4.
I Don't Know What Order.. But Most Important To Me Are:
1.) Custom SAK I Received From TattooSteve. Mostly Because It's The First Custom I've Ever Owned And It Was Specially Made For Me And My Use. I Don't Think I Could Ever Let It Go.
2.) Spyderco Tenacious - The First Knife My Dad Ever Got Me. Even Though Him And I Are Not Close, It Means A Lot As I'm A Knife Nut And It Was From My Dad Lol.
3.) Meyerco Catch Dog - Even Though This Thing Is HUGE And Heavy And Doesn't Get Carried It's A Very Sentimental Thing As It Was My Birthday Present For When I Turned 20 From My Mom.
4.) Schrade Uncle Henry UH 16 Hawkbill. - This Was My Only Christmas Gift From My Mother This Year And The Very First Traditional Style Knife She Got Me. It Reminds Her Of The Hawkbills People Carried When She Was Young And She Loves It As Do I. So It's A Really Sentimental Piece Of My Collection. It's A Piece Of Me From My Mother, And It's A Piece Of Her Memory. You Can't Get Much Better Than That.
I Know My Stories Are Nothing Really Spectacular But They Mean Something To Me.
I Really Enjoyed Reading All Of Your Stories. =]
I'm Sure I'd Have More If I Had A Grandpa Growing Up. Lol.

I have a 75 or 76 (can't remember) small stockman by Case which was my grandfather's. The blades have been sharpened almost down to nothing and the carbon steel has quite the patina. really quite cool, IMO.
My 1st SAK was a BSA Hunstman that my uncle got me one Christmas back in the early 90's when I was about 10-11. It has the slotted Philips, keyring ub on the liner instead of the backspring, screwed scissor joint, and the thicker main blade tang. I still have it BNIB. I was so enamored with it, because I wanted one badly but couldn't get my own (hey, $20 is a lot when you're 10!). Now I wish I had used it so it would have some memories with it.
I also have an autumn orange cadet that my wife got me for my 30th birthday, and a birthyear soldier.
These four I will probably never part with.
