Winner isn't, the second bidder retracted.

I still can't imagine one of those is worth that much...

3***3 is the infamous bid retracter. I think he is over 40 now.

Guys like Sigsal have no incentive to block the 3***3 bidder because he likes to drive the auction price high. You either need to snipe or stop bidding with sellers that allow 3***3 to bid on their items. I've sent Sigsal a message that I won't bid on anything that 3***3 bids on, so he's lost my business until he blocks him. There are only about 10-15 people who really buy these things - if enough of that crowd tell him the same, he'll block him quick enough.

Why should sigsal block 3***3 ?  He isn't the highest bidder and (at least in this auction) he cannot retract...
Don't blame sigsal (or another seller), blame the guys who are crazy enough to pay 300 bugs for a broken knife  :pok:  :D

One note - Sigsal is a She. Don't currently have her name, but it looks eastern European rather than German or French.

To me it is just sad that 3***3 has to put in some too large amount to find the other persons max. That is not the way, eBay is supposed to work. eBay even admits this, but will they do anything?

Slobodan isn't a girls name. It's a Serbian male name. (going by his message to armèe-suisse in the 7 bids retracted thread). But maybe it's a couple, man and wife selling.

Dug around in the trash and came up with a return address name of S. Sbojadinovic. I was recalling an earlier package when I thought the name was that of a woman, but it wouldn't be the first time my memory's been wrong.

Are luxury automobiles THIS rare??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NTSA-LOT-OF-2-SWISS-ARMY-VICTORINOX-LUXURY-AUTOMOBILE-W-ST-CHRISTOPHER-CLASSIC-/380417038623?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item58929f591f#ht_500wt_898

Jazzbass should know what the ending bid was for the last one or two of these to sell. Seems I remember a price of over $400 for one but its been awhile.

Highest price for a Motorist (aka Automobile) was $406 paid in Jan 2012. Next highest after that was $188 that stressmaster made me pay for a large awl version back in Jan 2011. Motorists (aka Automobiles) are not, IMO, rare. Interesting and one of my favorite knives, but not rare. 30 have been up for sale in the past 27 months, so they come up a little more than once a month - about the same frequency as a Yeoman.

Highest price for a Luxury Motorist was $305 paid back in June 2011. Next highest after that was $134 that I made stressmaster pay when he outbid me back in Sept 2010. Luxury Motorists show up less with 12 sold in the last 27 months. So figure about the rarity of an Apollo 11 Craftsman. These were both production knives for a significant period of time. Neither are unobtanium. Both will show up again. And again.
