Do any of you guys ever send messages to these sellers and tell them how stupid they look?

I know, it's probably an utter waste of time. But sometimes I wish I could reach through the computer and just shake these people until their brains got unscrambled.

I'm not advocating the harassment of online sellers, just venting a bit of my annoyance  :crash:

Or as the Bible says, "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him."

Of course it does then exactly contradict itself on the very next line by telling you to "Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit."  But if religious texts were easy to interpret, we wouldn't need priests would we

I tried a couple of times. Some see their error, most are like go away you are bothering me. Same seller.

Yes I do - It annoys me and I can't stop myself sometimes!!
I am always very polite and uncontentious - but just point out the facts - and sometimes my view of a realistic price :D

Varying responses...

- Sometimes they thank you and claim ignorance, but often leave the item there at the same price
- One guy once claimed ignorance, but said something like, but I just see what I can get!! (At least he's honest!!)
- Sometimes ignored
- Once a really crappy beaten up oversharpened, mangled regular 20 year old SAK was described as something like a 'rare, beautiful, vintage collectors piece' - (We've all seen that right?) It was laughable - My wording was a little more pointed in that email -  The seller responded very nicely saying she had not seen the item, and had just bought it from a picker in good faith and listed based on his deccription. She said she would take it down - which she did ! Wow!  :tu: Respect!!
- Sometimes you get the 'This seller does not accept queries' message from ebay - To which I think - I know why!!  >:(

To be honest I have never had a rude or 'don't interfere' response!! Which I kinda expect!!

By Sheffield when I first read the listing, I was thinking England, but after looking at the listing, it turned out to be the Chinese crap Sheffield brand usually found about everywhere for next to nothing.  The seller wants $17 for this well used beater--for $2 more I can get an actual Sheffield made Ibberson hawkbill Action Knife new!

Kinda funny how you develop a sense to spot the fakes after a while... Though this one just looks wrong on the spot :D

Wonder though if this is the same ChinaChamp type that was posted here sometime earlier...

This tool can often be found for $10 new (usually as Marble's)--when choosing this Chinese piece of garbage--was Maintainer out of their Marbles?!  They could have had one of  many of the cheaper Vic models made and sold for that price.

This is clearly used, yet seller lists it as "unused" and wants $22 for this old Camillus hawkbill.  Both my Kleins look better than this "unused example" and they're beat to heck.  On this, the blade was sharpened poorly, and the tip's wore off.  My estimate--about $5 or less--that's what I see 'em for at flea markets here in similar "coal mine veteran" shape.

 Maybe he accidently wrote UNUSED in title ?
as he clicked all the correct USED boxes in the SELLER DESCRIPTION area when you list an item.

Item condition:Used

(Then again lower)

Used: An item that has been used previously. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of.....BLAH BLAH BLAH  :D  :tu:

Yeah I agree priced a Lil high, Maybe he is fishin a lil then relist for a lower more reasonable price???
BUT......He does have the BEST OFFER , so maybe he would take a crazy low price.................... Who knows ..lololol ITS EBAY!!!

An old Wenger, equivalent to the Vic Bantam, for a very reasonable 60 euros...

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Sammler-Wenger-Strellson-Taschenmesser-swiss-cross-Kette-RAR-Schweizer-Selten-/222286096931?hash=item33c148aa23:g:hk8AAOSwNRdYBnjd
Maybe the swiss cross on the corkscrew side makes it one with a rare scale?
atleast I hope so...

I doubt it .... ??? ..... Just a regular corporate logo'd SAK I'd say!!
I looked Strellson up and they are a Swiss Men's clothing manufacturer
More like another ebay seller chancing it - I'd say - And most likely the SAK was given away for free initially !!

Nope - it's the corporate logo for Strellson, the largest Swiss menswear company.
https://strellson.com/de/de/

On some Victorinox made for corporate logos and advertising, the Vic shield is on the back side to allow the company buying them to put their logos and marketing on the front side. In other cases, there isn't a Vic shield on either side. I've got at least one with the Vic shield on the back and the logo and name of the company that handed them out on the front side. I've got others with no Vic logo, and when I got the black scales for two of the four the Apprentice I fabricated, they were "sterile" scales without the Vic logo intended for advertising and marketing imprinting.

In order to be rare, the knife being marked with Sterllson's name and logo (for marketing) would have to be not only rare, but somehow considered extremely valuable. It might be uncommon but it's hard for me to imagine how the Strellson logo might make it high value. Hope this helps some about the Vic and Wenger knives bought and used by companies for marketing.

John
