Its my favorite Leatherman to date. I received it in a trade a few months ago and we haven't separated since. I believe its one of the greatest Leathermans ever. :2tu:

The SideClip is certainly a good model, although I have to wonder if the complexity of the handles contributed to it's demise.

I missed it when it was a production item, but I've been keeping an eye out for one.

Those 4-piece handles would have been easier to create stamping dies for originally, but they must have contributed to a bit of a bottleneck at final assembly :-\

I have never seen one in person. It looks to have the same tool layout as the Kick especially if you add the Kick pocket clip. Did the Kick replace the Sideclip?
If you love it so much Ash, show us some pictures  :pok:.

I'm a huge fan of the sideclip.  It's my oldest MT, I've had it for 12 years.  The only reason I don't have in on me right now is it's getting loose and LM swapped a few of the original 5 point screws for 6 point screws when I had them refurb it, so I can't tighten it until I get a torx bit that fits.

I also love the pulse, perhaps just as much.  I kick myself daily for ever selling mine.

I had a Sideclip and a Pulse.

The Sideclip was very pocketable ... but the tool set was sorely lacking for me. Add in the inboard tools and sheet metal edges when using the pliers and just it had to go. I can see why people adore it for the cute factor, but as a pocket tool it didn't deliver for me.

The Pulse on the other hand had a very good toolset and the pliers were more comfortable, but again the tools were inboard and the asymmetrical locks were extremely frustrating. I remember using the scissors one day, and the time it took to get the scissors out, snip, and put the scissors away again finally made my mind up that it also had to go.

The PST II has the inboard tools of the Pulse and the sheet metal edges of the Sideclip, but no annoying rocker locks. I can just about tolerate that, but it's not often it gets the opportunity to come out to play in fairness. My Kick mod kind of leaves it a little overshadowed by adding a pocket clip, a comfort factor and a bit changer ... but a Spirit, Bear, Bear clone, MP700, PT-510 (modified), or even a pair of 4" vice grips and small SAK, means the Kick mod gets less pocket time these days too.

I don't miss the Sideclip or Pulse one bit  :-\
