Need help identifing a Wenger
« on: March 22, 2012, 08:08:40 PM »
A friend of mine bought this Wenger from the bay, but we cannot identify the model. Any help will be appreciated.

All I have is this picture from the seller.

When the knife arrives, I'll make better photos if there is a need.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's a special run for L.L. Bean.

A locking Traveler with 2D phillips screwdriver.

Here's a smartknives entry for it.

L.L. Bean sold it as the Swiss Sportsman (#6239), and offered it in both green and black versions.

I have a couple of those knives and the Phillips Screwdriver is handy and works quite well but it does not lock up when you use it like the other flat screwdriver/cap lifter.

Holy ****!!

I was completely unaware of this model's existence. It's pretty much Wenger's version of my favorite Vic, the Yeoman.

I need one NOW

There are several of them on ebay right now. Also a non-locking red version I wasn't aware of. Search "Wenger Bean".

I think I should move this to a new page, as we have a new name for it, and a tool change does make it a new model.  If you see it gone from the Traveller page look for it on its own page.

Fine with me. :tu:

I just added it to the Traveler page as the Adventurer was also linked back to it, but yes, the new tool does warrant a new page. :D Be sure to include a reference to the existence of a non locking version of it too.

Some Wenger has nail file facing the blade and some has nail file facing away on tbe same model. I think those with nail file facing the blad are the newer ones.
