Leatherman Squiet P4 / PS4 : A little Gem
« on: March 25, 2012, 06:22:34 PM »
I bought the Leatherman Squirt P4 on Friday. I could choose between the P4 and the PS4
I chose the P4 as I like the layout above the PS4. I preferred to have the little awl above the small scissors. Tel me which one of the two you prefer. Share some good or bad experience with the P4/PS4.

This tool is a real little Gem, now part of my EDC.

Regards
Johan

Long time I was thinking on getting PS4, but I pared up P4 and Vic Manager... So IMHO that's full combo!!

Pliers
Awl,
Blade,
Regular Philips
Scissors

Just perfect pocket combo!!
There is method to my madness....

It's a really tough choice for me as well.  I like the scissors on the PS4, but I miss the small flat driver.........

........In general I think I probably carry the PS4 more so I guess it just edges the P4 into second place, but in all honesty I could easily change my mind tomorrow.

I've been carrying a P4 for 2 yrs now I think.  I bought a ps4 to replace it, but I didn't end up liking it at all, so I returned it and bought more 2 more P4's from ebay for 'backups' and I'm still EDCing my original P4.  I normally just carry SAK and I find the P4 and SAK complement each other well for day to day light duty use.

As between the P4 and the PS4, I prefer the latter.  But I do miss the awl, thats for sure.

But really, I'm more of an Explorer Plus or Classic SD kind of guy.

I got the PS4. I EDC'ed it for a while, then stuck it on the wife's keyring. No idea if she uses it though :P

The original Squirts never did much for me- they seemed like a lame attempt to update/improve on the Micra, which I believe to be one of the finest multitool designs ever.  I'd hoped that the PS4 would be a step forward with the inclusion of both pliers and scissors, but to be honest it really hasn't wowed me either.

I'm not a huge fan of the pointy phillips and I'd much rather have the small 3D phillips found on the E4.

The scissors are passable at best and the rest of the stuff on it is the same old Squirt fare that didn't do much to impress me in the past.  It's a good try though- I suppose overall it's not a bad tool, I just don't care for it.

Scissors are one of the things I use most so I went for the PS4. I agree about the 2D driver though.

This picture caused me to buy a PS4 when I first saw it on EDCF. :D Powernoodle was one of the first guys that posted pics of it. And I'm thankful you did, love this little tool. :tu:

I have both.On paper the PS4 is a clear winner, have pliers, blade, file and snips, yet the P4 just feels better.I EDC a mini tool as abackup set of pliers to my main MT,and it tends to end up being either the P4 or my MTo Style PS.The PS4 lives in my emergancy tin,but I dont really think it'll get the pocket time
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!
