Dutch Forum knife 2012
« on: March 26, 2012, 08:54:03 AM »
We just had our 2012 forum knives delivered; an old school styled Laguiole model, handmade by the French knifemaker Renaud Aubry.
High polished blade is Sandvik 20C27 stainless, hardened to 61HRC while the handle is ironwood on stainless liners with fileworked backspring.
Each knife is marked on the inside of the backspring with "MF 2012" and the number, in my case # 10.
We think Aubry did a good job,  :D

61 hardness seems exceptionally hard, is that normal for lagioules?

Most Laguiole knives are indeed a little softer, but Aubry likes to take his blades to the upper end of the spectrum for the steel he uses.
