Yeah the Site Peak and Coleman sets are both calling to me.  I may have to order a set for a three day kayak trip I'm planning this summer.

Of course I have also been looking closely at the Bio Lite stove as well.  Either way a cook set would really come in handy.

Very cool sets. :tu: I've been looking into such cooking sets as I usually just take a frying pan and an old 500lm pot I have but would like something lighter and more compact.

How do these compare weight-wise?

The Snow Peak Trek set really appeals to me for some reason. :)

That's my top pick right now. I chose to buy the aluminum model, but it also comes in Titanium. They are also available as single pots...in which case you would probably want the smaller 900ml size.

I think the Coleman set has been discontinued for a while now. I haven't seen any in the store and the ones I found online are being sold at inflated prices.

There is a hard anodized cookset sold by Kovea - Escape set - it looks so much like the Snow Peak that I would guess they came out of the same factory. I suspect it would hold a Svea like the Coleman Max set...because the pots are a step smaller (1L/0.6L)

A little hard to compare because they are different as far as volume and fittings...weighed as shown in my photos, without stove...

Sigg Tourist - 22-7/8oz - 648g
Optimus 88 - 11-3/8oz - 324g
Optimus Terra HE - 10oz - 283g

Snow Peak Trek - 19oz - 540g
Snow Peak Solo - 5-3/8oz - 153g
750ml Titanium mug - 4-1/2oz - 117g (has been sold under various brands Tibetan, Backcountry, Helion etc.- currently it is Toaks)
Coleman Max - 13-7/8oz - 394g

A recent acquisition...not a Svea...an Optimus 80...

I"m really happy with this one...particularly the range of flame adjustment and it seems a bit quieter than the 123. I've read that the original Svea 123s without the built-in cleaning needle also have a wider range of adjustment and are better at simmering. So now I'm on the hunt for one...I currently only have 123Rs.

I also like to use alcohol for my Optimus prime... ::) :D

Thanks for this. :hatsoff: My stove is a Campingaz Twister 270 (folds very compact) so I'd like some light cookware too. That Optimus Terra HE looks like a good candidate. :tu:

I have several Campingaz stoves and lanterns...the CV cartridges are difficult to obtain in the US...so I recently obtained an adapter that enables me to refill them using cheap butane cassettes.

Yes, I saw that thread. They are fairy easy to get here but can be pricey. I found a store selling off their stock last summer and bought half a dozen of them at about $5 a cartridge if I remember correctly.

This is the adapter - Taiwan Camping - I've used it on threaded Lindal valve cartridges and the Campingaz CVs. I weigh and underfill the canisters just to be on the safe side.

I just received a Svea 123 in really good condition. It has all the bits, including the folding jet cleaning needle and an Optimus mini pump. The only thing missing is the original fuel cap.

Picked up an Optimus 99...which is basically a 123R mounted sideways. Cleaned it up and made a lid for the pot/case.

Very nice mate. :tu:

I have to admit I'm not totally clear on how these things work, have you got a link to a tutorial or some such?

Me too...the pot actually has a usable capacity...at least 16oz with room to spare. They aren't as numerous as the 123s on ebay, but they do come up.

Perfect. :tu:

In order to light this stove you need to pour alcohol all over it and light it on fire....  :D

I usually do the "warm it up in your hands" method, but you know, different strokes and all!  :D

I had an ideal... :D

Used a #7 (4mm) clock winding key socket and a Snow Peak Short Spork. That solid brass socket seems to weigh more than the spork.
