Head of TSA says taking knives from flyers is rediculous

Here in Europe, a knife with a blade shorter than 60 mm is OK on inner European flights. They will not take you Classics, Micras, Styles, Dimes or even 58mm Vics, I even was allowed to bring my Fallkniven U4 on board.

My bosses don't mind me carrying anything at the store.  All I've been asked is to watch who is around when I use a OHO blade in the store proper.  Damn sheeple.  >:(  For the most part my knife and tool use is in the back room, so that's not a problem.  Whatever SAK I'm carrying does the work around the counter.  When I go to Devils games, I tuck a Vic Classic in my wallet, and use it as needed in the arena.  Never had a problem, though I have had a Classic confiscated when it was on my keys.

I have decided I won't go anywhere that forbids a SAK at all.  I can do without sports games, that's why I have a huge LED HDTV.  I don't go to amusement parks either.  They ban these thing with no good reason.  At least in the Courthouses there is a decent reason, but why the hell can't I have a SAK at a Football game or on a rollercoaster?

Because if your football fans are brainless morons like ours, it's gonna get dangerous.... Not wishing to offend anyone, but here there are more police officers at football games than at protests or the police station itself. Some people go there just to instigate & enjoy a nice bloody fight.

For the rest of the thigns- I don't travel frequently, but when I do, following all the requirements and packking stuff in transparent bags and being careful for no pointed & sharp objects to end up in the luggage and evenutally having to take off even your belt and endure some not so pleasant moments with some TSA lady's hands pisses me off pprrrettty much...

My workplace does have a ban on knives at work, but there is an exemption for BOH employees.  I told them I would carry what I needed to carry and as long as it was legal by TEXAS law then they couldn't stop me or I would quit.  My boss told me to shut up and carry what I wanted.

Curious...What's a BOH employee? Bank of Hawaii? Brotherhood of Hackers? Buffoons of Heathcare?
Why stop now?

Sorry, I always forget which abbreviations everyone is familiar with!  I work in Hospitality, BOH is Back Of the House.  It applies to all employees who don't regularly encounter guests.  I'm in Loss Prevention so technically I'm not BOH or FOH, and I see guests regularly. I convinced the management that we need to be able to carry knives and tools because of Safety and lock maintenance.

Btw, the Style PS is said to be TSA friendly, isn't it? But it still has scissors? And quite a long and narrow, therefore, sharp file... so it can still be dangerous. Yet another thing that, accordingn to me, proves how stupid some regulations are. Ok, it won't cause so big a damage as a hunting knife, for example, but why this and not the Style CS or the Micra or whatsoever keychain tool?

Becuase even if you adhere to the published letter of the regulation, there is always a chance that an individual screener will say "no, you can't bring that on the airplane". Play it by the rules laid out, and you are still looking at someone who couldn't make it as a real cop or in the military or even as a mall gaurd to get it into his head that your whatever he or she thinks looks scary won't make it on the airplane.

That's why there were so many stories when the TSA was first set up about the oh so very dangerous iPods that got seized.
There is man the tool maker, man the tool user, and man the tool- choose your path wisely.

Man with tool is ready for trouble. Many with many tools can go looking for trouble.
