I know that carbon steel Opinels have something of a cult following here on MTo,but is there any love out there for the Slimeline Oppies?

Lets here from you and see your pix :gimme:

I imagine they are pretty decent knives, but I have never handled or owned one.  I wouldn't mind checking one out one day, but I haven't ever really seen them for sale anywhere.

Yeah they are pretty hard to find, most dealers carry the regular line doesn't have slim line. I gotta remember to tack one on the next time I order from an online dealer who has them though.

I love mine.
Though it is not a "stabbing" knife it is very good for filleting or trimming fat or cutting food etc. Really sharp.

You get the functionality of the standard knife, with less weight, a flexible blade and in a much sexier, lean package.

Here is a repost of it being used to trim the fat off a pork shoulder I barbecued a while back.

Short answer: Buy one!!!!!

Edit: they are a bit more expensive than the standard ones but they are available here. With Opinels I find that it is better to personally select your knife as the "feel" differs from one to the next (how hard it is to open or close etc.).

I will get one in the end kirk and have a lot of opies now but these do cost a bot more than the normal opie and although i think they would be great for cutting meat and fish i would be buying one purly for collecting and not for much use  :-\  and most know how i feel about non users  :D they are elegant looking though but i do prefer the standard looking opinels myself, im only really after the bigger opies at the moment although i ended up with 2 #8's last week and a #6 my favourite size opie, but im sure if one comes up at the right price and i have the funds ill grab a slimline  ;)
