Opinel explosifs /electrician mod

I saw one of these opinel #7 french explosifs models a while back, i thought a notch would be a handy addition to the handle so did it today plus a bit of aging, the actual explosives model is a inox #7 non locking with a brass pin so no sparks from friction to ignite the fuse, cool opie but expensive to buy and rare so used a carbon (my favourite) #6 with ring removed (uk legal) and bobs your uncle etc etc

Whouldnt that damage the blade ?

That looks very nice Mate, particularly like the patina

Copper is a lot softer than Carbon steel so it shouldn't do the blade much harm
If you take the edge off the steel its not a problem as you don't want a sharp blade when you are striping cable, it will damage the conductor

cheers tony, yeah i cant see the blade getting too damaged and will only add more character  the patina turned out nice after a little go over with the super eraser, that darker bit wasnt there untill i just opened it and looks like it was created by sparks  i might try and do a brass pin to add a little more character , now what size and where

cheers mike , i might do a carving in one of my #8's next, i got some of my uncles african face masks and like the patterns on them so i might try and copy it,
