SAKs in public places (or other multitools)
on: May 24, 2012, 08:55:59 PM
Don't know if this has been done already, but in this topic I would like to see pics from your multitools in public places, be it historical places, famous landmarks, tourist attractions.  They don't have to be "world famous" places, a pic from your Leatherman Wave in the town square, or your Victorinox Camper during a nice day out in the woods with the family, anything goes.

So, make your family and friends think you're going nuts by taking out your Gerber MP400, placing him in front of Mount Rushmore and start taking pics.

P.S. Don't get into trouble, it might not be a good idea to place your Leatherman MUT with the blade out at the gate of Buckingham Palace to take some snapshots  ::).

I will place the first shots, hope somebody else will follow or this will be a very short topic  :dwts:.
I've already posted the following pics here in other topics, but for now they are the only ones I have.

Here we go:

First one is my Victorinox Explorer at the historical site "Bayernwald" in Belgium, at his site you can see some original German trenches from World War I.

Here you see the same Victorinox Explorer at "the trenches of death", also in Belgium.  These are Belgian trenches from World War I.

And here a more recent one, my Victorinox Spirit, pic taking during a hike at the "Nahtsief" trail in the Belgian Ardennes last week.

Thanks man, but the "your Sak outside" topic is booming, so I think this one will die a slow, silent death ...  :-\

I blame the title of my topic ...

Went back to the Ardennes again yesterday with the wife and kids, took a nice 11 km walk there and passed a monument in honour of 7 British Airmen that died there when their plane crashed on the 23th of april 1944.

So I took a few pics from my Spirit on the monument site.

I always try to combine my intrest in WW1 and WW2 history with my love for hiking in beautiful places, and luckely (and in some way "sadly") enough there are lots of those places in Belgium.

Greetings  :salute:

Great pics guys!

Great Idea for a picture thread. I am a bit of a history geek myself, and this is just brilliant!

Here are some of pictures from the saks outside thread, but with a bit more history.

PS. Top-Gear-24 I didn't know about this thread. If I had I would'nt have opened the Pics of your SAKs outside thread. Sorry.

My Wenger Evo S111 in mouth of a Valkyrie's horse. This is a copy made from the original cast of a simiilar statue in Denmark. This one Stands in the park around the Kobolt mines in Åmot Norway. The mines was active at the end of the 18th century, when kobolt was essensial for dying blue cloth and glass.

My Pioneer staning in the wall of a 18th century abandoned farmhouse in Åmot. The first registered people who lived in the house came in the 1790's. However the registration of people living in small places like this was not common in earlier times. There has probably been living people in the area longer than that. The last people who lived in the house moved in the 1960's.

My Wenger Evo S111 standing in a bridge over the river Simoa in Åmot. This bridge is a part of the old Kobolt mines roadsystem. To the right of the picture, wich you can not see, stand several buildings that was a 18th century roadstation/inn and a part of the kobolt road.

In a few weeks I'm going to be a part of big Viking fair at Borre on a site of several viking gravemounds. I'll see if I can sneak in a MT pic while I am there. (even thoug I'm strictly forbidden to carry modern tools, and electronic equipment as a partisipant) :viking:

No need to apologize my friend, so we have two topics with nice pictures from great tools in great sceneries, I don't mind ...  ;)

I keep checking both of them to see if there are some new pics.

Went back with the wife and kids to the Castle of Horst yesterday (our boys just love this medieval castle) and took some pics from my Vic Explorer inside the castle.

Not the best of pics since the light in these kind of places isn't great, but here they are ...

@ Zed: Thanks for the great pic of the SOG  :salute:.

Here are a few new ones I took last monday when I went to the beach with my family  8).

When I go to the coast, I always take my Spirit with me, I also took my ST300 along, tucked away in a plastic zip-tie bag, in its sheath, stashed away in my camera bag ... (can't be too safe when it comes to Leatherman tools vs salt water exposure in my opinion  ::)).

Nice pics TopGear  :tu: Oddly enough it's the Wave I use in gritty environments  :-\ I feel there's more clearance for particles to find their way through and out. I'd rather let that take a battering than a Spirit (plus I can strip it down if something stubborn gets inside)
