Yeah, I was at Dicks Sporting Goods the other day and the man behind the counter was saying that the Gerber Suspension and all the variations were the best MT's produced! I almost said something!

Just watched the video...wow that guy smacked down Gerber pretty good.

I'd be pissed also if the plier head of a tool I was using just shattered..

And who tries to build a wardrobe with a multitool anyway? If you're at home, you're better off using real tools*.

*Not to say Multitools are not real tools. I used mine in an industrial environment - beats walking back to the drawers every time I need pliers.

Yup the 600 series (and 400) are both excellent tools. Gerber do seem able to produce some fantastic tools, and then some utter crap. I'd prefer it if they didn't make some of the poorer tools in their catalogue as it sullies their name but as long as they continue making the good stuff i don't really mind, i just won't buy the poor ones!

It would be nice if Gerber would package and market their tools similar to Benchmade or Spyderco/Byrd...a premium line,and an economy line.

They used to... Winchester used to be the cheap line of Gerbers, and they may still be, but I haven't heard anything form them lately. Of course that's taking a page from the book of United Craplery and Taylor- the Winchester name is quite reliable for long guns, and a well respected old American company being cheapened by crappy Chinese made tools cranked out by discount 5 year olds....

Winchester tools really are quite bad, i've had a few given me over the years and they all pale in comparison to Gerber tools (that i've used, not handled any of the new "suscruxtresolve" tools)
