Remember a while back, I commented that LM should get into the "1piece pocket tool" aspect of the multitool business?  Especially after the carabiner made for the LM Sidekick?

Looks like someone at LM thought the same thing

will be interesting to see what they come out with as a joint company.
EDC: ACME tornado whistle, Boker Rescom, Pocket Wrench II, Olight i3 EOS Cree R5, 'Bare Necessities' SAK mod, spare car key, mini-pen, mini tape-measure; all within a Maxpedition 3x5.

this would seem to be the same tactic they took with buying LED Lenser; buy an established company that already has market penetration rather than attempt to carve out a niche themselves.  BTW this isn't meant as dig at LM, it's just good business practice.

I agree. Far too often companies try to branch into complimentary markets and either do a piss poor job of it or just rebrand another established product.  Given the lukewarm response to Leatherman knives and flashlights it made sense for them to buy LED Lenser rather than continue to try and reinvent the wheel.  I'm glad they learned to cut out the middle man and quite wasting money on trying to develop something that's already been developed elsewhere.

I wonder if they have their sights set on a cutlery company next?

I'm hoping that they give Bob a call and expand their sheath selection... :D

FYI, I happen to like their knives.  Sadly, most people only saw them as a "multitool company" and nothing else
