Does anyone know much about trailer bikes.

Hi guy's, I'm looking to get a trailer bike for my son, so we can go on longer journeys , originally I was looking to get a child back tandem, but after a fair bit of research, there just far too expensive

So I'm looking to get a trailer bike...



All I really want to know is, is how safe they are, how reliable they are, and can they take the ocational bumpy, rutty trail (not full blown MBT tracks honest )

I've put together MANY of those.  They're well made and safe for the most part, but they're only as safe as the adult rider that's pulling it.

So, in your case, I wouldn't recommend it. 

A trail shouldn't really be a problem if it's not too rough.  Try to find a model that has a descent wheel on it; preferably one that has an aluminum rim.

As a practical joke, I always wanted to rig one of these up with a coaster brake on it so jr. could have lots of fun with dad.
