SOG Paratool - Review
on: November 17, 2012, 04:15:45 AM
Here's a short video I did on the SOG Paratool. An interesting little multitool that had my attention since I first saw it in an EDC dump from a lady member here a looong time ago. I wanted a BO one at a reasonable price so it took me a while to get one. Finally found a "used" one on ebay a few months ago. Not a scratch on it. ;) First thing I noticed about it was the lefty-ness of it. Does anyone know if Mr. Blackie Collins was a lefty? I adjusted it to my preference later and thanks to Rex added a few tools to it but that in a future video. :D

   I have one, but without the compound leverage of SOG I see no reason to use it.

I havent carried mine much at all, but I really like the paratool.  Its a compromise to have the weird folding pliers with smooth outside handles, but I really like it.

Nice review, I didn't know about the chisel ground blades.

Nice review, I didn't know about the chisel ground blades.

I exchanged that on the updated setup. And added some other stuff. :D

Nice review mate :tu:

I must be honest though, the Paratool hasn't appealed to me, and has never made it onto my wish list. Not that it strikes me as a bad tool, just it doesn't seem (to me) to have any shining merits over the PPP/PT-510

Is your blade tip grounded down at factory? Mine is and the idiot did it overheat the metal.  ::) Fortunately it's only bronzed, not blued or I'd be really pissed.

I picked one up recently on amazon for a decent price (as far as canadian price goes anyway). Somehow I was always under the impression the head can be flipped open like a flipper knife, so was quite disappointed by how hard the head is to open, it's actually the hardest to one hand open in all my plier tools. It's very compact for the number of tools you get though, I'll give you that.

Mine seems OK but I exchanged it for a new blade without even using it properly, I never liked chisel ground blades.
