Pocketwrench Slim
on: September 04, 2012, 11:26:43 AM
Hello again!

Thought I could share my latest mod. I call it the Pocketwrench Slim :D

It weighs 25g (or 0,9oz), and the standard one weighs 45g (1,6oz). Personally, I can't imagane anyone breaking this without some serious abuse (maybe with a hammer )

As you probably already noticed if you've seen my previous mods, I really like light weight tools since I like to carry lots of them ::)

Looks good Sjoqvist  :tu:

Remember Tony the pry tool is only as strong as the material you leave either side of that hex hole, and having internal corners does weaken it slightly more as it focusses the forces so don't get too greedy with the removal mate :salute:

I've never played with one of those, can the wrench area not work as an opener anyway? I'm thinking along the lines of the Octane's opener

And Sparky, that bottle opener part looks like a great idea!

Thanks alot for the feedback! :)

I made mine about 13mm wide. I have not done any crazy prying with it yet, but it feels pretty sturdy

I want to see some pictures when you are done :pok: :pok: :pok:

I finished my Slim Wrench  :salute:

I angled the pry bit in a couple of degrees
Its not as symmetrical as it could be and I gave up on the opener idea (its some very tough steel  :o )

Thanks for the idea Sjoqvist

Neat mods, what are the primary tools you are using to remove the excess metal?

I have a Pocketwrench and it's always seemed a little hefty to carry all the time. Your mods seem like an ideal solution.

That only happens occasionally, it teaches us not to wear our favorite tea shirts when we are working  :ahhh

 :D

@Scotty,
I used my 1'' linisher, you could also use a bench grinder, 4'' disc cutter or even a dremmel, just remember to keep the wrench cool (dipping it in water) while you are working  :tu:

A hack saw and file would also work but take a lot of patience  :)

Yes but unless you are going to use it with another tool for extra leverage I don't think it will matter in this case  :tu:

I guess you could leave a little bulge around the hex cutout for strength but I cant see it breaking under normal use.  Im totally doing it now. :D
