I do hesitate to point this one out, it's certainly not a personal recommendation, but it's the only modern style hammer headed 'hawk that I could find without breaking the bank.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/survival-hatchet-tomahawk-axe-hammer-and-axe-multifunction-hatchet-outdoor-hunting-camping-axes/1394317885.html

that looks exactly like what I've been looking for.

thanks Gareth

does anyone know who makes it ?

I posted a thread asking the same thing a few months back, there are a few youtube videos. If postage was reasonable to Australia I'd buy one. :gimme:

I'm sure you are going to like it Syph007

I went with the carpenter axe because I use it to build stuff and I like the smaller size hammer.

let us know what you think about it after you get it.

I got it a few days ago but didnt get a chance to put it to work until today.  I limbed a bunch of trees in the backyard today.  Its a thin profile blade so its good for that type of work.  I like it! :D  Im making a kydex quick cover for the blade and I'll post some pics after I get it done.

the Bahco catalog number is BAHHFGS07400, and I couldn't find a US distributor for it. According to their website, Snapon is their main US distributor/contact... Hello price hike.

If shipping wouldn't cost so much I'd ask one of our UK members to get me one.

I think I'm going to get a Gerber pack axe . I know I can afford and find one.

I'm still not going to give up the search

if I hit the lotto I'm going to get one of these http://www.rmjtactical.com/loggerhead/

its what I really want.

I may also get a truckers friend. But I'm going to try the Gerber first.

Another option, Cold Steel's Trail hawk. At 24oz. it's lighter than the carpenters axe. Just shorten the handle to what you need.

I do own a rifleman's hawk I keep at work a norse hawk for throwing that lives with my rarely used camping gear.

I've been thinking about cutting down a trail hawk.

I bet the Smurf out of them and I can say they make a decent tool.

I just may do that Rob. :tu:

Here's my beat up tomahawks. This is a old pic
