Because occasionally some collectors ask me how to change the battery and yesterday
one guy ask me the same question in my blog, i decided to make a tutorial.
It isn't a difficult task, but the instruction booklet of Victorinox doesn't help enough.
If you like it you can make it sticky, so everybody who owns these SAK’s will not
damage the knives or the watches.
First you have to use some tool to pry out the watch from the scale of the knife.
The best tool for this task is a watchmaker knife, i use my trusty Wenger knife.
The edge of these knives doesn’t cut so it will not damage the scale or the watch.
(except if you use too much force in the wrong way!)
At the watch behind twelve o’clock position there is a small gap, you insert the watchmaker knife (or any other tool that hasn’t has a sharp edge) and you put little force to pry out the watch.
Then behind the watch you will see a small white cover, you also pry out the cover and you
will see the battery.
You take a needle and carefully you pull out the battery, minding to not damage the metal contacts of the watch. (in the photos the watch doesn’t has a battery as a precaution for storage)
When you put the new battery you have to be careful to put the battery diagonal as seen in the photo so you will not bent the one of the two metal contacts of the watch.
Then you push all the way in so the new battery will securely installed.
The rest of work is easy you put back the cover of the battery and then you put the watch back to the knife
with the six o’clock side first. That’s it! Now you Supertimer or Timekeeper has a new battery without any damage.
(The clock in these SAK’s takes the 377 or SR626 battery.)
