They used to be made in the USA, back in the early days. The designer is Swiss, which is where the name came from. When they started to get more popular and expanded their lineup to include more complex designs they moved production to China because of the cost savings. Many of their existing models at the time like the Utili-Key and Micro Tech plier tools were so simplistic that few people noticed the difference as quality was easy to maintain.
They they started to get into gimmicky tools with LED's and plastic parts and that changed everything. Still, the classic models are good, regardless of where they are made.
