"I didn't want to fire up SolidWorks...most because this is an extruded shape, but I also didn't want to get into 3D modelling hell."
clearly you haven't used autocad in 3D, now THATS hell

Oh yah..I know of AC3d and it's terribleness. I hope to offer the T&T if the first run fits well, I am also thinking I may add a bottom to the t and t slots so they don't ride along the actual tool itself, but it'll make them thicker.
Thats cool, I'd like one if you could mill them from Ti?
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

It would be made from stainless. It'll look Ti, it's stainless powder infused with bronze.

I have some carbon fiber laying around. I may give it a try :) I have access to a mill tomorrow for a few, might be a good chance to mill the slots. Thanks for the great idea :)

I used the profile of the blades for the top. Be sure to mill enough material off the off so when the Pliers are open they will clamp down all the way.

Blast! The minimal wall thickness is 1mm, I'll need to redesign It and shoot it back to shape ways.

No need to fear!

I am secretly working on a bit holder (MUT style) with the same part. Might be a 'bit' tight :)

I'll have to upload this to my order now on shapeways, plastic and aluminum.

If these make the cut, I'll expand it by 2% and then get them done in Stainless (there is shrinkage!)

I took this one out of enki_ck's book:

VIC SCISSORS!

Easiest scissor mod, no need to pin anything, just simply needed to bore out the pivot hole from 3mm to 7/32. Again, carbide bits made this easy. Since I already pushed in the liner lock so it wouldn't push up against the scissors, this was a simple drop in.

Seriously....no mods whatsoever.

The Vic's scissors are going to leave plenty of room for the ferro rod, whenever they get here..

They are a pleasure to use like all Vic scisssors, not as cool or as crisp as the Gerber ones but these are much more accessible and cheaper. A simple, even used SAK can be used to harvest a pair.

I never said I wouldn't do it...just wanted to try :)

could you do the pen mod on a wave?

I am trying to see if I can, it would be pretty neat. I'll likely start a Wave Master (get it...Master & Commander) project

Holy smurf when did Metro get a mill?  :ahhh
Have I really been away that long? Did I miss it's unveiling somewhere?

The thought of you with a mill makes me smile. I will refrain from asking you to make me things until you get to know her better.  :D

I've had a mill for about 3 years...about the entire time I've known you...and MTO for that matter.

Ok....

So I said no one wins on the first try, I was right.

The grips work great, but in my confusion and excitement, the hole for the rivet was designed into the wrong side!

there is also a bit of wackiness with the T&T holder, there is just not enough height for the toothpick on THIS round.

Here are some pics.

See how the jimping would be more useful if it was on the plier end of the handle.

The bit holder was also an interesting experience, these really would benefit from real injection moulding, the tolerances and minimum wall thickness of RPing just won't allow for the thin features that it needs.

This is how is SUPPOSED to sit. The jimping forward.

I am considering heavily moving this project into a Wave body, the thinned out TI scales are very sharp and Aren't performing as well in use (the last week has been a good tester). This also opens the floor for a "Master" Wave project with the concurrently designed shears. This completing a Master and Commander EDC tooling duo.

If I do move to a Wave, I'll be milling out some of the blade cover for the blade exchanger, finding a way to adapt the pen into the Wave body and some how sneak the T&T somewhere else.

The grips with NO additions (like the bit holder and T&T) would be an awesome feature.

I can't believe how many concepts you tried on that one tool! I suppose home milling a new set of scales to match the cast Charge scales would be a tall order.

I think moving these concepts to the Wave platform sounds promising.  The cast ti is kind of crappy.

Any interest in tackling a MUT? They seem to have a lot of real estate to work with, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of packing large tool capacity in a medium frame tool.
