The Cadet got some work this morning. I was sweeping / cleaning the stove and the pipes that go into the chimney. The can opener screwdriver came in hande to remove the screw nuts from the screws on the coverplates. One screw was loosen, so the bottleopener screwdriver came in handy.

In the afternoon, we met my wife´s brother. I opened several beer with the Vic Delemont EvoGrip 101
The small blade came in handy with opening some packages.

Today was Costco day. I used the blade of a Classic SD to remove the plastic overwrap from several packages, as well as using the scissors to open the flavor packet for a bowl of Kimchi flavored ramen noodles - a light lunch prior to eating Super Bowl goodies later today  :P

Used the sd on my Classic´s file to remove staples from papers at work. I love to use the sd there. Much better than those spring driven jaws that are also used to this. The paper does not get damaged - with those removers I just rip the paper apart.

Oh... the mainblade on the Explorer did some kitchen duty for lunch.

Thanks sir....and the family continues to expand!  I cleaned her up and actually put her to use repairing my sofa tonight.  That Philips head works well, and those wonderful scissors work like magic!  My son told me not to take my eyes off of it or it might disappear into his collection!!   :D

My wife and son are not at home today. I´m not that chef per se. And I like the meals we sometimes got while I was in the Army. So I decided to make a gulasch soup today for lunch. Traditinally this stuff is canned. So I used the can opener to open the can.

It was a wonderful feast with - with some toast bread - it made me feel like I was 20 years old and in the army-camp in the alps. Wonderful feast  :D :D

I'm a European Mutt (parts German, Polish, Ukraine and British) so goulash is in my vocabulary. I might have to make some in the near future. My mom used to make really good goulash!

Humpaa----> Is there a certain goulash recipe you use more often than not?

Well, actually not. I´m not that cooker ... being more an eater. :D
So I don´t have a reciepe for this. But my mum also made goulash when I was younger and lived in my parents´ house. She used only beef, no pork - it can also be made with deer. Roasted it with onions. Added paprika powder and several other ingredients I can´t remember. Then poured it up with water and let it all cook for several hours. Then let it cool down and stand over night. The next day it got warmed and served. IIRC she always said it, it has relax one night and then it is done for eating. Per taste she added some chilis or not.
But that´s just my mom´s interpretion. If you ask an hungarian guy, you well propably get a completely different recipe.

@harley: You could ask... maybe the swiss need an experienced infantery man. I was a Mountain Man and it was a nice time in Bad Reichenhall.

You and me both Humppa!  I grew up on the stuff.  My Dad used to make it, and when I got in the Army I felt right at home :D

Late in the season, but finally replaced the screen panel in the screen door on the front door with the glass window panel. Been an unsually warm winter. Makes a noticeable difference in heat retention around the front door! It's a PITA because of how heavy the glass panel is (nearly the size of the door). Requires removing a hard vinyl retention strip on each side of the panel. The large screwdriver blade on the Woodsman was made for the task. Once it's started at the top, pulling the strip out down to the bottom is easy. If it looks like this has been done before, yes, it's the 20th year, and the Woodsman has been used for nearly all of them!

Just remembered, also used the file on the blue Classic I keep on my keyring to clean up a thumbnail that was starting to split. One of the handiest uses for the Classic.

The Woodsman once again comes through with removing the ancient, battered, chipped and cracked scales on this old Classic SD. The edge of the can opener is thin enough to wedge under the ends of the scales and pop them off. Photo shows the knife after I cleaned it up some . . . it was gross beyond belief . . . the knife sides under the scales had thick crudmium plating. I had found this black one years ago in a parking lot and it had been obviously driven over a couple times when I picked it up, but it still worked and I kept it on my keyring for some years until its scales got one too many cracks and wouldn't hold a toothpick securely. It was replaced with a blue one sitting in a drawer. Now I'm awaiting the new scales for it, and a replacement toothpick (need to clean up the tweezers too).
