my svord came into today
on: December 19, 2012, 09:20:03 PM
my orange handled svord came today!

here she is meeting some of the old gang:

very brief impressions just handling it:

def will need to get a washer or spacer for back screw, how do you guys not cause the handle pieces to not get squeezed together when you grip it?

the rear chicago screw needs a spacer around it to get the sides from being pushed it.  it will be a cheap plastic upgrade but def something that should be included in the first place.

you can see my handle has a black birthmark in the middle.  I kind of like it so that's no biggie.

I have a gallon milk jug sitting next to me so i stabbed and slashed it with the svord and then the opie.

the svord def is the more stout of the two, and with those type motions i'd def take the svord but i was also impressed by the opie's laser like cutting.

this is both knives sharpened from factory.

excuse the packaging tape reside on the opie blade, she's a user

     ^ Bruce?

WiSAK
I think the idea re the handles/scales is the harder you grip it the harder it is to close the blade
But I added a couple of washers to my Svords  ;)

it actually squeezes the handles together moving them down the chicago screw until they are touching and then i need to take a screwdriver and spread them back apart

went you look at a pic of a chicago screw you can see there is nothing to prevent the handles from being squeezed together on that end.

the blade keeps them from squeezing together on the other end

If you have a look at the picture Neil posted here you can see where I added a couple of washers to a Svord to stop that happening  :tu:

Everybody has it happening, on my wood handled the stop pin also isn't in the right place and the blade cuts into the chicago screw, oh and two handle halves aren't even the same shape. They are essentially kit knife that you'll have to finish yourself.

I hadn't seen much talk about it.  I'm guessing it would happen with whatever type of handle a person had.  I'm going to the hardware store today and see what i can find.

I saw people talking about the blade hitting the chicago screw.  mine doesn't thankfully.

i do really like it.  saw a video with a different way to one hand open and been doing it over and over.

I also plan on making some handles for it from different materials
