O__O W....OW ! ! !

:D omG. How did you endure all that? :D And for how long did you have to stay still while they were doing this?? :D

I don't have any tattoos.... never thought of myself like someone with a tattoo... but if I ever do, it's gonna be sth small at a ... special "invisible" place or sth... :D hehe
we'd still need photos I'm afraid N_N_R !  ::)

@Greg... it does indeed look a bit like a Waratah, but it's a stylised chrysanthemum (and very hard to spell :D).

As for size, I started smallish too over 20 years ago, then realised I was hooked and started seeing my whole body as a potential canvas. Planning out long term things tends to look great if you have a good artist to help you. But if you do start small, or stay small, it's still intensely personal and important to you and is worth sharing here :pok:
Size certainly isn't everything ;)

I love all work really, good bad and different.... it's interesting to me to see what people get and why. This is not a new art form, it is an evolving expression of that which makes us human. Tattoos have been used to heal, to remember, punish, celebrate, label, empower, as rites of passage, in prison, and in almost every other context you can imagine. As early hominids evolved, they began to decorate and embellish things, and that is considered by some to be the very distinction between primate and man. I learned recently about ancient well preserved bodies having ink marks on them, which had been a bit of a mystery. It turns out they correspond to the art of acupuncture, and placements on the body were very purposeful and relative to diseases which may have been plaguing these individuals at the time. Modern day acupuncturists were able to diagnose what the marks may have been treating and it seemed to tally up to the pathology of the bodies... fascinating stuff.

It has an interesting anthropological history and I hope a really exciting future too, as more talented people are attracted to the industry. I love it, in case you hadn't noticed!

I applaud any good tattoo, especially if the artwork is noteworthy, but I have no respect for a misspelled tattoo or something in bad taste, as it speaks volumes about someone who cares so little about their body. Just for the record, the only tattoo I'd wear was put there after my death, following a violent struggle.  ;)
