Have a wood question.

I know on the Wenger Evowood knives the scales are glued on.

Are the scales on regular Wengers also glued on? Have a Handyman on the way that would be cool with some wood on it.

Ducttapetech says that the regular models are not glued on. They snap on.

Harley thanks DuctTapeTech for his answer.

Also wonders why we are talking about ourselves in the third person but believes he will not understand DuctTapeTechs answer.

Ducttapetech credits Lynn for us talking in 3rd person. Also Ducttapetech believes that it makes us sound important. And silly most likely.

PTRSAK thinks it does sound silly. He also thinks the members should return to looking at SAK woodiness.

So this is PTRSAK's latest creation, albeit a work in progress.

Harley thinks it looks done to him. What makes it a work in progress PTR?

Not peened yet, long pins on other side. This is a trial assembly while I'm waiting for inspiration on a fix for this HORRID problem...

I may try getting someone with better TIG skills than me to weld it back together and then re- heat treat it, or make a new one. All very difficult and time consuming so it will probably have to sit on the back burner for a while.

Looks like there is enough extra material to use a Florist Knife backspring to make a replacement, but they are stainless and the rest of this old timer is carbon steel. Perhaps if I etch it it won't be so obvious.

Beautiful wood!  :tu: :

Can't help you with the problem. Had a similar one with an old Wenger. No gunsmith or clock maker would touch it. Irritated me enough I finally sold it off.

You could go the BO route.
