Skinth M7 Toollet Review
on: August 19, 2013, 10:07:24 PM
AS one of the super happy winners of a Skinth M7 Toollet for the multitool.org 7th anniversary giveaway, I thought the very least I could do would be to take the time to review this product now that it has arrived  :mail:

Front

Back

Inside

rulers there to show depth of pockets

Size
The toollet is approximatly 3 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall  (7.6 cm by 11.4 cm)

Material

The material is amazing!  but here is the specs from
http://skinthsolutions.com/the-m7-toollet/

Made from 17337 milspec 3″ nylon webbing, milspec gros grain binding tape and #69 nylon thread, the M7 Toollet is built to take a beating so your cards and tools don’t have to.

Pockets

the smallest pocket will hold my electrician snips

The inside pockets are roomy, I put a leatherman bit kit inside with a bit extender, to show size.  Thought most people here would know just how big they are.
the toollet is about a half inch away from fitting both bit cards side by side.

to get both bit cards  to fit, I turned one facing the other way, and stargered/overlapped the bits.

Here is a front view with my snips and the keychain drivers from JPH0200's guide found here
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,46699.msg762578.html#msg762578

Pros

1.  fits in pocket!  sounds stupid, but I have ordered some "pocket" organizers that will only fit into a cargo pocket
2.  high quality  (duh, Metro made it) :tu:
3.  multiple pocket sizes make it versatile.  and can be used with several separate load-outs.
4.  Advertizes this awesome place
5.  stands as a testament of how nice the stuff from http://skinthsolutions.com/ is.

Cons

I got nothing to put here  :tu:

Final Thoughts

I honestly believe this will be part of my EDC for years to come.  I love just how amazing it is, and just makes me want a skinth sheath for my Charge, but there are so many nice ones, I am having trouble deciding.

Metro has once again proven his skill, and I am both very happy and thankful to have received this product.

Glad you like it and welcome to the Skinth owners club. :2tu: Looks like a nice one.

Also, would you mind if I moved this one to the "Sheaths and Carry Methods" subforum as this isn't actually a tool? :P

Nope, link remains the same. Not a problem about the placement, but maybe as this is a review of a sheath it will be better for later reference to be in the "Sheaths and Carry Methods" so people looking for info can find it easier. :salute:

the wave is a little large for this toollet.  I think this item is well suited for individual tools (small file, one piece tools, etc, but knowing the limits could help people decide if they want one or not.

certain SAKs could be carried in it.

here is the toollet closed with a 2 layer celluloid in the front pocket (tinker)

here is the wave installed in the inside pocket, and the toollet closed.  notice the top flap does not go all the way down.  the wave is just too tall.

here is the inside view of the wave

This will be one of my more common loadouts, I think.  It'll go in my shoulder pocket of my ACU uniform when I'm at Army Reserve drill weekends.

A mini bic, a Victorinox Cadet, a few bandaids, a mini sharpie, a Victorinox Swisscard, a copy of the NCO creed, and my military drivers license.

Would I be able to fit a Victorinox bit wrench (with row of 10 full size bits) in the M7 comfortably, as well as a Leatherman Mako Ti (bits can be removed, but even better if they don't have to be, as would give me 14 bits), a 1/4" 60mm long magnetic bit holder extension and a small 1/4" socket adaptor, as well as two (relatively flat) plastic tyre levers? If so, this would be a perfect mini-toolkit for my bike and other odd jobs.

Alternatively, would this lot actually fit in the smaller B5 Toolset?: http://skinthsolutions.com/product/b5-toollet/

You might just about get all of that in the M7.

Here's a shot of mine with the Vic bit/driver kit so you can see the size of it:
Tweaked the M7 Toollet contents

4" Bahco adjustable, Mini Sharpie, 2mm flat driver and a Victorinox bit kit and driver.  Makes a great pocket toolkit to supplement a multi at work.

I wonder.
I have a Toolet in my drawer, loaded with some flat knives (a K55K, a Solo, a Cadet etc).
It never occured to me if my Opinel #8 Jardin fits. If so, I could add a couple of things from my wallet and carry it in my left backpocket. I'm going to try it.

Hmmm, don't think there will be room for both the bit wrench kit and Mako Ti -  think they'd both need the large pocket, but there's only one of them.

An alternative.might be to get a L-Shield Skinth for my Leatherman (Knifeless)Fuse, and put either the Mako-Ti or Bit Wrench kit in the front pocket, then uses the M7 for the other things, perhaps also adding a small slip joint knife, like a Bantam or Cadet SAK.

BTW does the M7 fold over properly with the 4" wrench in place? A little adjustable wrench could be handy.

If the Mako is shorter than the Vic wrench then it could go into one of the wide pockets on the inside of the Toollet.

The 4" adjustable is longer than the Toollet so it won't fold with it in place.
