Don't let the oht challenge 2 make you think about I'm going to do a review of it and all I got in it
Mike.

I'm doing that one for fun. The challenge of the perfect carry for me after work.

the next tool I do anything with will be the super tool for sure. :multi:

What tool would you all like to see me use next

Leatherman Super Tool 300
Leatherman Crunch
Victorinox Standard Swisstool
Gerber Grappler
Bear Jaws Super

all of the above I plan on challenging soon or later.

My vote would be Swisstool, ST300, Bear Jaws, in order of preference. It seems you'll be testing the ST300 and that's cool. I'm really interested in seeing how it performs.  :tu:

OK I need a excuses to buy a new one.

Personally I'd love to see how the Grappler fares. I have one and wasn't convinced with it initially, but it did start to win me over when I'd used it a bit. That said, I didn't put it through the kind of heavy challenges that your line of work might subject it too, and if I was going to grab one of my Gerbers for something like that that it would probably be the Diesel. I'm still a little wary about a couple of aspects on the Grappler, and a JAfromMN challenge would no doubt answer those concerns one way or another  >:D

To be honest, I don't think it would be a challenge for the Swisstool  :D though it would be interesting to hear how you find it in comparison with other tools

My thoughts on that are the Crunch pliers are significantly better, but you have to "build" them before each use. As regards everything else, I find the Grappler is superior - namely longer drivers, better knife blade, prybar, more function, outboard and OHO throughout. It's also compatible with one of Gerber's hex driver tool kits - whereas the Crunch in comparison has a built in hex slot, but with no magnetic retention and you have to remove the adjusting screw which could easily be lost, rendering the tool an expensive paperweight.

I'd be very interested in seeing a Crunch vs Grappler go head-to-head though  :salute: as many people write off the Grappler immediately due to the plier capacity or slightly more fiddly means of adjustment, therefore "protecting" the failings (in my eyes) of the Crunch from appearing overshadowed by the Grapplers strengths

:D I know what you're saying. Some MTs are just :gimme: . Sadly, I can't justify the funds for further MT research for the time being, nor can I say that I use the ones I have a lot. I keep them for the times they'll come in handy, which means sporadically. It's good to know what can be done with a given MT, so I'm grateful for these reviews/torture tests

As usual, you raise a good point. For me, those two MTs have  >:D too many moving parts  >:D and that's the devil's lair for me.  :-\  :salute:

i got a few things to do first but that's the plan for today.

my main goal for today is to stay unfrozen. :viking:

Well my cold weather test on the oht came out a little unexpected.

I might have got a little carried away but it could easily happen my world

I tumbled the oht around in snow while packing it into the blades and the body. THEN I Used a bottle of WATER with a spray head and sprayed water all over the tool. Inside + outside

results

the oht pliers would not fully open after I smacked it around to remove the ice I could

I tried very hard using gloved and bare hands to try get it open.

it would not open until I brought it inside.

the outside opening blades and tools all opened / locked after a little struggle .

I didn't get a pic of the outside tools because I dropped my phone in the snow. Dam it. It  works but still pisses me off.

well I think the oht will spend its life inside in the winter.

its way better that I know now than find out later.

still sucks. I was going to start edcing it.

if one of the mods could fix my pics it would be much appreciated. I can't get anything but what I posted.
