I saw earlier today that Cabelas have them for preorder $49.99

Balls! That means £50 in the UK!

Not that I'm over interested in one,but that'll be mad money here

PSSST $1.70 to the pound at the moment, order it from the USA

Well, at least they're keeping to their MSRP.  The whole preorder thing, does that mean they could actually be on track for August/September??  It couldn't be...could it?   :o  Yipes.

I agree that's about the weakest blade tang I've ever seen on a mutitool relative to blade size. As such, probably a very inappropriate design for inexperienced knife users (kids). Another example that Leatherman's primary focus is a good profit rather than a good product. They'd better make A LOT of spares ready for warranty replacements, and get their legal team on standby for injury claims.

I'll stick to my original assessment that this should be called the FACEPLANT rather than the LEAP

Remember this is to get the kids involved into Multitool carry and use.  these children are not going to carve a 2x4 with this blade ( maybe cut a piece of string or an apple .. Such as what children will do )  so I keep an open mind about its use it would be something great for a young one to have and carry just like DAD !!!!

Still need one or more when they do come out though.

Just figured I would confirm this. I got the Catalog today and the Leap's blade will be permanently fixed once installed. I assume its a safety feature.

Unless it comes with a junior welder kit... if the blade snaps on I bet it can be snapped off.

I don't know this website, but saw this last week I think...when looking around to get some idea of when:

http://www.theemsstore.com/store/product.aspx/productId/24598/Leatherman-Leap-Multi-Tool-for-the-Beginner/?gclid=CIzOjMiR-78CFbFDMgodvzMAMA

It states "3 weeks", but perhaps that's just over-enticing wishful thinking.  It's a great price, but then they want $8.99 shipping.  I believe Cabela's had it on their site - and though I haven't checked today, I think they've since removed it.

???  Make of that what you will [and if you can make something of that, I'd like to buy you a cigar...].

I think the leap is a good idea. It will guarantee Leatherman future business and get new people using multitools.

Even the new Juice line guarantees LM business, just not 'good' business. I'm not getting my hopes up on this one either :td:

49.85

A little pricey for me to buy as a gift to kid.
Although
video games cost more so  it's probably worth it .

That's just MSRP. Should come in at around $35. Not to bad in my opinion.

Most definitely. I was just thinking if it where in the $20-$25 range I would be more inclined to buy it as a gift for the young ones.

So does the cap lifter on the P4, but it works...... Kinda.

I really don't think it is the cap lifter as it would probably be on the flat driver instead, but it is possible it is. It is also possible they mislabeled it as they have done that before.
