If all goes well I should be showing off the re-assembled 111mm shortly. :D

How shortly? :wait:

 :D

I had it mocked up fast, but there is a problem.  The phillips drivers each seem to take a bit more than their width in a layer, so the stock liners I was using dont quite work.  I need to shave some off where it rubs and try again.  Also I need to make a notch in the lock release for the cap lifter as its blocking the tab to flip out the long phillips.  It'll work though, just a few tweaks. :D

I always liked the Locksmith and after seeing this thread had to order a non-OH one :D Maybe I will put DD scales on it.

Robert, alox scales for 111 mm would be very, very nice. Even without parts mix between side lock and liner lock models. I like the side lock ones too, I do not see them less solid than their OH brothers - well, except the large flat screwdriver that's a big improvement for me on the later. The main blades are nice for me on both kinds.

My 111 mm mod is quite simmilar, with almost same tools, but with regular scissors  :D
And also with linerlock.

I´m going to try a simple "Sentinel Plus" with a blade and opener layer and no backside tools (or maybe the Awl only) as  a first try.

I knew I saw this idea somewhere! Thanks Lowtech!  :hatsoff:

I´m about as quick as Robert, though  - All I have is a stash of torn apart knives, spare scales and crazy ideas.

Hi Syph,

I've been thinking about this and wondering if this sort of thing may be feasible:

1. Start with a Vic Nomad or Centurion
2. Change the blade to a one handed opener
3. Put the scissors and Philips layer in between the blade and the opener layers.

:)

Cheers

you will loose the locking feature on the opener layer, but it will be doable.

A sentinel later would work for that. Only one locking point ;).
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Yup or you can bed the lock tab to be straight.  But my goal was to keep the locking feature which is why the scissors layer can't go there.

Tried that and it makes it a lot heavier.  They are thick steel liners.

Nice! is it possible to do a 111mm with the torx type screws you use in your other builds? what are those called exactly? and where do you get them? I've got some plans to do a 111mm pseudo alox build once I figure out what features I want.

I love my Trekker, kind of want different scales and scissors. Have thought about just getting a Hercules but want to keep it simple and OHO.

@wonderwolf: I've been looking for 111mm Vic's with torx construction for a quite a while now, and I can't make them myself since I don't have the tools/shop (or the experience).

I guess parts can be had from > http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/index.php.
They have pivots and torx screws.

The only way I can see that working is with a custom made backspring.  It's a very wide tool.

Awesome! What about a double backspring in that bay?

Added: ....with the sides sanded flat to mate perfectly side by side with no liner.  Like a double tool bay on a big 91mm in reverse.

Hi All,

Late last night, a rethink of this concept came to me...

1. Start with a Vic Nomad
2. Change the blade to a one handed opener
3. Put the scissors and Philips layer *in front of* the opener layer.

This would leave the awl in the middle of the back layers, but that should be OK. The access to the opener layer may be a bit tight, but hopefully still viable. If it could work... the ultimate three layer 111mm! ... :o

Cheers

I tried that but the oho blade is too far away to open with one hand.

Also I don't think the can opener would work.
