Away for a couple of days.
on: November 02, 2013, 01:00:14 AM
I've decided to get away from the city for a (very) short break.  I'm heading for a hike and single night out camping in The Galloway Forest Park.  Though I've been to the area before I've never gone for a walk in the woods here, almost all of my hiking trips take me further north than this, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Weather permitting I'll try and get some pictures for you folks. :D

Well sports fans, I'm sorry to say that rain has stopped play. :(  The rain varied from heavy to downright torrent. ::)  If, IF I could have found a really top notch spot for camping I would have toughed it out, but, while there were spots I could have used, there was nothing particularly outstanding. :-\  The walk was actually nice anyway, I just decided that lying in a tent for 12 hours listening to the rain wasn't the best way I could spend an evening. ;)  Between downpours I did manage a couple of snaps.

First off though;

OMG there's a whole land full of them!!!  Every problem in the world can be blamed on a tiny village in the Scottish Borders. :ahhh

If the weather doesn't actually look all that bad, that's only because I only took pics when there was a chance my phone wasn't going to get ruined.  Plus none of those mysterious blue bits ever seemed to ever be heading my way. :D

Nice scenery, but sorry about the weather.

I think the lands of the Kirks are ok, it's the woods of the Kirks that you have to fear. :ahhh

You're not planning on going in any woods, are you? :o

Camping in Scotland, in November? What could possibly go wrong?:-)
Looks a nice place though and I guess not too crowded today.  For me though I would wait for the warmer weather.  I won't say drier it being Scotland, but deff warmer.

I did check the forecast, honest. :D  There is a difference between "light showers and 13mph winds" and what I actually got. ::)

Every so often I get the desire/idea to move back to the UK, or some other northern European region.
Then I see posts like this or watch the news or visit and remember how bad the weather was/is there and change my mind. (had a similar experience with rain camping in the Isle of Skye a few years back-had to hide in pub)   :D
Here it is still very warm; shorts weather even indoors.

It is good to see you made the most of it  :cheers:
