Yep I thought that was pretty neat. I remember as a kid seeing NJ Air National Guard F-106's out of Atlantic City doing practice scrambles. Those old pure interceptors were hot rods, all straight line performance.

In one of Brian Cox's earlier series,in order to explain the layers of the earths atmosphere,they go to Thunder City in Cape Town.

Brain gets straped into the Lightning T-bird. A Hunter T-bird goes along as camera plane. They cruise along til the Lightning driver firewalls it,and pulls the nose up. IT JUST SMURFS OFF! I mean,I know it'll leave a Hunter for dead,but really!

Can't remember much else of the program,funnily enough!

It was hard for us to find a place big enough for us to get the C-17 in to load, so I honestly don't think we could even fit a C-5!

Good eye John, that's an A-26 behind the Voodoo. The 101's painted in active USAF colors. The NJANG flew these instead of F-101's:

This F-106 is painted in Delaware ANG colors, though it was an NJ aircraft in service, one of the last actually. The Jersey Guard was the last Delta Dart operator, retiring them in 1988. The museum is on Dover AFB in Delaware, the Air Mobility Command museum. Lots of neat transports on display, and a C-17 took off while we were there! I've got a ton of pics to post when I get home.
