I might have to give it a go as well. I don't currently have a can on hand right now and i'm not sure if I have a "fuel" to use. I'll look around though. Better make sure I have something to smother it with as well.

Found a can and washed it out. Now I just need to find some "fuel."

I wonder what would happen if you did not make that tiny little hole.

Just made one real quick. Figured I posted the link so I might as well make one.  :D

I started by cutting the top off and as you can see I started it in the groove and moved the cut to the upper area trying to make it as clean as possible. I found it quite hard to cut all the way around the can (safely), but it will work. A can opener might be great for this. I will have to try that on another can.

I finally got all the way around. Took me about 5 minutes.

I cut the can in half and used the scissors to make everything clean and make everything the correct size.

*NOTE: With my scissors the easiest way to cut around the can was to hold the can in my left hand and the scissors in my right. I tried the other way and it was nearly impossible to get a clean cut.

I used the knife blade to make the little "combustion chambers." I had to go back and do it over again. My first attempt seemed to not leave enough room when the top was inserted into the bottom. Take your time on these. Don't forget to also make your tiny hole.

here's a shot of the inside.

Not sure if I should leave it like this or push it in a bit more. I guess experience making these will answer that question.

And the finished product. Now I need to see if I have any fuel for this bad boy. I have no idea if mine will work though.

*NOTE: One last thing. If you use a SAK for this it WILL scratch your blade to hell. Use a beater SAK or a different knife.

Well I just gave this one a go as well.  Scissors, a Stanley knife and a longer blade to make the scalloped edges in the top half.  Stuck to the instructions just like the Captain, though I think I have gone with a smaller hole and indentations.  As the Cap says: time will tell if this is right or not. :)

I think the fire would probably die, I suspect it's for getting oxygen into the can, as the big opening would be closed by a pan/pot that's standing on the stove. Does that make sense?

I have made a couple of alcohol stoves from Lynx deodorant cans. (branded Axe in some counties)
They weigh a few grams more than a beer/sofa cans but much stronger.
They work really well. 30ml of meths will boil a cup of water for coffee/tea.

I'll try and find a link to the tutorial.

I done one of those before, works pretty good. I still like the penny stoves and wood gas stoves better.

Nice, looks more durable. While the one made from the can is more something you could make on the go.
