Some custom SAK
on: January 04, 2014, 09:34:05 PM
I start with the first one for 2014, a Wenger Cigar 36 with warthog tusk scales. Fileworked blades, tools, liners and springs (inside and outside with 2 different patterns) :

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics.

And a selection of older ones.

A Climber with snakewood scales :

A Climber with briar burl scales and fileworks

A Classic SD with "lamellé-collé" (dyed and stabilised wood) with fileworked pieces, even the thin stainless liners :

Another Classic SD with buffalo horn scales, chequered and with brass inlays. Also with fileworked pieces :

Simpler Classic SD with only scales replacement :

Snakewood :

Mammooth fossil ivory :

Red Paperstone (very dark) :

Deer antler :

Refurbished abalone (mother of pearl) :

AZ desert ironwood :

An Alox Classic SD with only fileworked blade :

A one blade (like Excelsior) with snakewood scales :

Some others will follow (111 mm, garden tools...).

Very nice work. Regretfully the file patterns aren't that visible due to the flash. :-\ Try taking the pictures without flash or with using a light box (google "light box" for some ideas).

What file patterns are there? It looks like vine and I can't make out the other one.

The cheese knife, with olivewood scales :

The unlocking button with its spring is the hardest on these 111 mm, like this Hunter with reindeer scales :

A camel bone Nomad :

Another Nomad with kudu horn :

Carved AZ desert ironwood Nomad :

A small pruning tool (brass liners and fileworks) :

The 1.9300 pruning tool :

The garden knife with carved Elforyn scales (alox liners, fileworks) :

Deer antler Swisschamp :

Zebu horn Swisschamp :

Wenger Ranger with violet rosewood :

Thanks. Sorry for the fileworks details, I try to improve this. You're right there are vine fileworks and other more "modern" patterns. I realize about ten patterns (arrows...).

It's the most classical pattern for the outside of springs, blade and tools. You can adjust the length between the patterns for a different result (here it's very close). It's symetric on the two springs. For the inside it's a modern pattern.

Spatha, here's a better picture (I hope) with natural light of the Nomad :

Three other customs from this summer/autumn. First a boxwood Climber with basketwork pyropgraphy :

An Alox Excelsior with main blade and spring fileworked (inside of spring also). No anodisation of the scales which are polished like silver :

A carbon fiber Spartan with fileworks :

  Thanks for the new photos, Michel.  Those pictures came out really sharp and well exposed so now I can behold the intricacy of that file work in all its glory.       Truly inspirational work.

The last one, a Victorinox Spartan with Cassia du Siam scales. A wood from La Réunion island. Main blade fileworked with a classic pattern, and also the visible part of the back of the two springs. Polished liners :

Thanks Sidhartha.

Today I finished a Swisschamp with kudu horn scales. Main blade with vine fileworks. All 8 liners with fileworks, the inside part is simply polished.

Here are better pictures of the Excelsior with polished Alox scales without anodisation, and the details of the fileworks :
