Does anyone recognize the attachment that looks like a bit-holder on this tool? Any idea what can be attached to it?

Yep thats for use with sockets. Its a standard SOG part that comes on some models. You can buy it seperately too.

It fits diagonally across the socket and just engages two corners. Works well so long as you still have the socket retaining spring.
